So, thoughts between now and November 3?

The only 2 games that give me any pause are Ole Miss and Missouri, and it's pretty clear why. I think it's probably for the best we will play 2 very good passing attacks who have average to bad defenses in the first half of the season. Should give the young secondary really stiff tests with the security blanket of our offense putting up 50.

Other than that, I struggle to see a game where I don't expect things to be totally in control by the end of the 3rd qtr.

Thoughts?

Texas A&M is probably better then both of those teams.

Bama will put 50 plus on Ole Miss and Missouri.

They don't match up well with us at all

Communication has to improve. I think the talent is definitely there, but wide open guys means someone didn't do their job. That being said, I think they improve week to week and the big dogs up front are going to hunt.

It isn't fair what we are about to do to the rest of our schedule.

Based on what? They've only played one of the worst teams in the FCS (Northwestern State has had 8 losing seasons and two 6-6 seasons since 2008).

More talented, better defense and far better coached.

They don't have the passing attack to trouble us at all, and I don't think Jimbo is even a very good coach. All of his good seasons at FSU came when the ACC had like two ranked teams. It fell apart pretty quickly as the ACC became a respectable conference.

It is even worse than that makes it sound.

He's had exactly 1 season with fewer than 3 losses when his QB wasn't Jameis Winston.

Ole Miss will put up some points on us. I expect us to win that one something like 52-38.

Hopefully our mental errors are fixed by time we play Mizzou.

As many as 4 teams could end up being the second best team in the West: au, Miss St, TexAM, and LSU. Ole Miss and Mizzu should have enough offense to give us pause.

Let's slow our roll on stating exactly how good everyone is or isn't. Lotta football to be played. Let it play out.

The game at Ole Miss is the only one that gives me concern because it’s a road game and they have a talented passing game. But it’s really hard to know much of anything right now. I don’t know how good Louisville, Texas Tech, or anyone really is.

And we only play 1 of them before November 3, and that one is at home and is not an elite passing threat.

The point of the thread was between now and the LSU/State/Auburn gauntlet, what are the thoughts on the schedule and matchups.

I've been waiting a long time for this football season and am in no hurry to get to November, discussion or otherwise. For the moment, I prefer to stay firmly in September.

My only point as it relates to this topic is that many teams will end up being quite different from what folks think. It happens every year.

That's good because my question was about games before November 3

I would never count out LSU when we play them in Red Stick. We've had few easy wins there over the past 10 years.

We're likely going to blow out nearly everyone on our schedule. If we don't bring our A game, there are a few teams who can give us a bit of a game. Those teams must have a elite passer at the QB position to do so, and we will need to turn it over some, too.

Odds are, we won't be tested for much of the season, and Saban will once again be speaking about "this team hasn't seen hard" in November, and it will be one of his biggest concerns.

All this assumes that Tua stays healthy. If Tua goes down, then we'll need to win with defense - again.
