Do most of you get weekends off?

I know this is probably off topic and going to be long-winded but I was curious if most of you get that weekend off in order to watch your favorite team play or do you usually have to work and DVR it?
This question prompted me to get depressed about my own life I graduated from Ole Miss in 2010 with a criminal justice degree. I currently work a dead-end job and I live at home and I'm pretty much a failure in every sense of the word.
College football is probably one of the few joys I get out of life including video games and going to the beach.
I was wondering if jobs where you get weekends off even exist anymore I just don't know. I know this is not the place to talk about depression God knows nobody will give a s***.
If I get a few more years of enjoyment out of college football I suppose that will be somewhat enjoyable.

It's alright man, everything will be fine. I'm not naive I know it's the SEC rant. I've got a good family I'll never starve and I'll always have a roof over my head I'm just in a tough spot in my life where I don't know what I want to do. Turning 32 on the 27th stressin me.

I was say most (obviously not all) jobs that require a college degree get you weekends off.

You're 32 years old. You're still relatively young. If you don't like what you're doing and where you are in life, change it. That starts upstairs. A lot of the roadblocks we run into are ones that we put up ourselves. After that, set goals. Sit down, map out where you want to be in 10 years, and then determine the best way to get there. The only person capable of changing you is you.
To answer the OP, I work most every weekend. Sometimes 1/2 a day, sometimes both days. It's the nature of my work. I listen to games or watch them on the computer while I'm working. I go to 2-3 games per year, but I work in the car or on the plane while going and returning.
I'm working right now, as a matter of fact.
And if you think you are depressed-go talk to a professional. I went through a rough patch once, and if I had gone to talk to someone it probably would have taken weeks to resolve rather than months.

I work most weekends because that's when my clientele likes to make a fool of themselves, but I take about three weekends off during football season to go to an A&M game.
Take a lot of Sundays off because it's a slower day in my line of work so NFL has always been good to me.

Think about who you know and see if there is any avenue you can explore to get some work that you might enjoy. Then mine that or heck go back to school. You are still young. Age is relative to what you are willing to do. Remember you are loved and cherished by many.

Have no idea what line of work you’re in but if your job is truly dead-end and not advancing a career, AND not making enough money to be out on your own, then it damn sure shouldn’t be keeping you from enjoying some free time on fall Saturdays.
Sounds like you’re in a rut and unfortunately when people get in a rut they are still too scared to make a change so they don’t lose what they got. My only advice would be dont be afraid to do something different when you know what you’re doing currently is soul crushing. Good luck and hope you are able to enjoy the season

I was working at sports store with a Masters degree 2 years ago before getting my big break. Don’t be too hard on yourself.

My first career I worked most weekends and most holidays. After I left that field I made sure my Saturdays were free during the fall.

I changed careers at 33 because I was tired of working 70 hours a week in retail and not seeing my family or the Razorbacks. Moreso the family, let's be honest. I work as an office manager now and I'm off every Sat and Sunday and no one gives me shite if I need off for an event or if my kids are sick. I make far less money, but I can deal with that.
It's never too late to make a change that can improve your life tremendously. Not bragging, but I'm so much happier than I was 5 years go.

Keep your head up and know that there are a lot of people out there in your situation or much, much worse. Enjoy college football for what it is but don’t let the game ruin your night/week.
For me I work most weekends (manage a restaurant) but the money is surprisingly good and the hours are much better than when I was using my computer engineering degree. I’m content with less money and more time off with family.
Find something that makes you happy and pays the bills OP. Happiness is what you make it.

I work at a Fortune 500 company called Publix which is grocery chain in the Southern United States.
I make $12.75 an hour and I work in the seafood department so I could tell you anything about grouper flounder catfish I can fillet a fish I can skin a fish Exedra exedra.
I am currently back in school working on an a s degree of all things and it's computer networking but I'm pretty shitty at that too even though I thought I would be good at it, other kids in the class are like half my age and they're all excited about what we're learning about and I'm kind of just like meh.
Theres an IT job for Publix I'll be qualified for after I graduate. 9-5 weekends off (I think) and its like $20-30 an hour 40 hours a week.
Drive around to stores fix registers etc. Could be something.
Anyway this isn't a goddamn self help forum so, its the end of this conversation. Cant wait for the season to begin. Cheers.

When I am home in the states, yes, 9-5 M-F.
However, when I am in Afghanistan like I am now, minimum 10 hours a day, 7 days a week. Start time for the early games in the states while I am here is around 2030 local time at night. If their are good games on later in the day, which most are, I schedule sleeping a few hours here and there to be able to get my weekly football fix in.

I know this place is a trollfest most of the time but I appreciate the responses to the OP who obviously is struggling. I felt the exact same way just a short time ago and feel very fortunate with what has occurred since then, but there were times I was ready to give up and I’m just glad I didn’t.
