Hurts about to be 3rd string QB. Mac is a far better passer.

How is this news?
Do people really think there's a QB battle for the #1 spot in Tuscaloosa?

This is old stuff. The talk coming out of spring was Mac was as good a passer as anyone and had out done jalen.
The spring game showed this. Mac was confident, poised, very accurate and fired that rock with authority. Galloway and herbstreit went on and on about him.
I think THIS is what had jalen upset. He knew he was being passed by Mac.
Again, jalen wasn't there the last half of the season. He was never a passer but he wasn't running either. Against auburn there were plays he just flat quit. Todd blackledge was talking today about noticing it against Clemson. Said he just didn't have any intensity and was short hopping balls in pregame.
And no, if anyone (non Alabama fans) REALLY believed there was comp for the starting job they......were hoping probably![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Is the source unnamed?

By source he means tweets from Will Lowery and Vinnie Sunseri.

Just my opinion but because of all he has done and the leadership he has shown the last two seasons, you have to say Hurts is no lower than 2nd string even if you intend on playing Mac if Tua goes out

Actually, none of this true. Finebaum does not have a source that says any of this. Finebaum is trying to look clever and act like he is "calling" the QB race and he is trying to gin up ratings for his show (ratings down 5-7% from this period last year). Truth be told Saban is equally pleased with both QBs.

Obvious reporting is obvious

If Tua doesn't get hurt in the damn spring Saban would have already named him the starter in my opinion.
