I think defense is more worrying than offense.

I think the defense will be better and deeper than last year. A lot of people's concerns are at DL and the loss of 3 starting Linebackers. We are loaded at DE and OLB for 2018. The depth on the DL is better than what people think.
DT/NT
Julian Rochester
Tyler Clark
Jay Hayes
Michail Carter
Malik Herring
Devonte Wyatt
DaQuan Hawkins-Muckle
Michael Barnett

Most of these guys are experienced Juniors and Seniors. The front 7 will make the secondary's job easy.

Auburn remembers. Nauta

He's a stud, we just have other weapons competing for the action.

Wasn't targeted enough. TE production will increase significantly. Nauta and Charlie Woerner will split reps imo. Woerner emerged as an athletic/dangerous weapon last year. We missed him in the National Championship game because of an injury against Oklahoma.

Curious to see how the players and staff respond to the expectations now.

In terms of talent and depth, better no doubt. The offense will be better. The defense will be good, but the real question is experience. We lost quite a bit on that side.

Depends on how you define it. Will they get to the playoffs and national championship again this year? Probably not. Will they win the East again? Probably. UGA has a lot of young talent and their season will be defined by how quickly that talent is developed.

All indications thus far in the summer are that leadership hasn’t been an issue, nor is resting on the success of last year. Of course we will find out how that all pans out next week when practice starts up and competitions get heated

Georgia has 2 challenges in their first 4 games where a lack of experience can cause them to slip, but is unlikely.

9/8 against South Carolina
9/22 against Missouri

Both are on the road, and Missouri will definitely test an inexperienced defense. South Carolina is not as dangerous offensively, but is significantly stronger on defense. Both being road games will certainly be a potential upset. Lose both and UGA will be hard pressed to make the SECCG.

I don't think they will lose both, and after that they get a few more games before their next tough road test, LSU. That should be enough games under their belt to know their identity, I would think.

My expectations are to win the East and a NY6. Of we won another SECCG and make the CFP I’ll be as ecstatic as I was last season

I think it’s an unfair generalization to categorize the entire defense as inexperienced. We lost some key LBs and seniors in the defensive backfield but we also played a ton of depth last season, a perk of winning by large margins and playing so deep into the year. So while some guys might not be as old as our seniors were, they certainly aren’t green by any means.

Ten wins...Maybe 11. Losses to maybe Auburn, SCAR, or both. Wins the East, loses to Alabama in the SECCG, decent bowl.

Some will say alittle better, others will say alittle worse. So more or less the same as last season.

The offense will probably be around the top of the SEC. Defense is very talented and deep but also very inexperienced at certain positions.

People keep saying Georgia is losing exprience....umm doesn't that happen to EVERY TEAM, EVERY YEAR that SENIORS LEAVE??

I think what they mean are the big names they became familiar with are leaving. But the roster as a whole becomes more and more talented each year under Kirby Smart. So obviously this year will be his most talented team thus far. New big names will arise and you'll be saying the same thing about them when they leave after this season.

Bias aside 1. Qb- Fromm with a years experience and #1 QB out of hs as his backup 2. RB-Big names leave but now have #1 & #3 rb out of hs plus some capable experienced backs. 3. Oline will be bigger and more experienced 4. WR will be better especially if former #1 2016 WR transfer recruit D.R. is eligible. 5. TE will be better.

Defense is a different story. More talent but alot of young talent. How quickly they can transition and adapt will be the key determining if UGA will get back to the playoffs.

I think it's obvious the offense will be better and more balanced, but the season as a whole is riding on whether or not the defense can step up. I definitely think they are capable of surprising alot of people. I know the Spring game doesn't hold much water but they looked very impressive.

A little worse at the beginning of the season, but after they get some experience they should be back on the same track.

Yes. WE just had a lot of important ones leave. Our three most important offensive players, and our most important defensive player left. That doesn't happen to every team, every year.

They could be a really good team and not win the SEC and not make the playoff. 10-3 type thing. So I guess worse is more likely than better. I doubt a huge drop off will occur.

I think it's very fair, espeically if looked at in the context of who they are replacing.

-4 year starting safety being replaced by a TSo that received limited PT last year
-2 senior OLBs being replaced by 1 guy with a lot of PT and one with very limited mopup duty
-Roquan being replaced by a TSo with limited PT
-Sr CB being replaced by a So with zero game reps at the position

The talent is there no question but I don't think it's unfair at all to say much of it is inexperienced.

Frankly many UGA fans are being unrealistic. Georgia will be way down as opposed to last year.

We lose 33 seniors including every leader and our best players of all time minus Herschel. Huge question marks at most positions and a deceptively tough schedule.

Could we win the east? Sure. Will we? Doubtful. I expect us to lose or struggle at USC, at Mizz, at LSU, vs. Auburn. Then throw in our history of losing at least one game we shouldn't every year and 8-4 starts looking likely.

Kirby Smart has yet to prove anything. South Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee are all improving fast and have proven winners in charge.

I expect us to finish second or third in the east behind USC and/or Florida. Reload for an east challenge in 2019.
