I was falsely accused earlier of supporting Abrams. Also falsely accused of not being a real libertarian.

Just here to vindicate myself.

Here. Have a seat.

Relax...

First off, this is natural.

There is nothing wrong with you. Although, you will initially be shocked at what I'm about to say. But, discomfort is a small price for a new and better you. Right?

Right.

NCDawbgwhatever,

We get it. You didn't support Trump. You quadrupled down on hating him and his supporters. Looking forward to the day "he would get Hillary elected".......so that you could gloat! And bask in the genius of your sheep gimp establishment-loving oblivi-gnorance-ous-ness!

But, then November 2016 happened.

And you were on the wrong side of history.

And this hurt you deeply. (ha ha ha ha ha, hell yes, LOVE IT!!!!)

But when Trump has proved to be the greatest president since about Thomsa Jefferson, it hurt you even MORE! And so yoyu are left feeling small. And stupid. And irrelevant.

And so, rather than admit you were wrong, you are using part of the tariff issue to hyperventilate and remind all Trump supporters how righteous and pure as the driven snow you are and how dumb the are compared to you???? (ha ha ha)

Amirite?

Don't answer.

Cuz I'm know i'm gotadammed right

ha ha. Youre screwed! Get out of the way. Scum.

Bahahahaha just here to stand up for conservative ideals while the rest of ya'll break like twigs. I believe we are at our closest point in history to having a third party appear. May God have mercy on America. I mean hey i was cheering for Trump and our economy just don't agree with his nonconservative approach to it. Don't be such a snowflake...

JD, it's time we understand that we aren't real conservatives.

We are so caught up in the MAGA Machine that we can't look around and understand that we are actually just socialists fighting against the communists.

Disagree just find it funny those who have hated these policies champion them now mainly bc its Trump. The dude was a life long democrat. Yes Jeff he is creating the new 3rd party. As long as ya'll accept that and agree he is vastly different from a true and traditional conservative then I have no beef. Support your new party all you want just don't claim it as conservative because its not....

Nobody except libertarians have ever had a problem with some farm subsidies or reciprocal tariffs.

It's about $12 per acre of farmland in America. That's not exorbitant.

I need you to understand why subsidies for farmers exist. This is going to grind your libertarian ideals, but it is true and it is important for you to understand it.

The US is a net exporter of agricultural products. We import alot too, but we export more than we import. Warren Buffet once said he'd trade all the gold ever mined on Earth for all the farmland in the US.

US farmers rely on subsidies to even out the natural ebb and flow of agriculture.... bad seasons for this or that, overproduced season of this other thing... are you still with me so far?

If we went to a libertarian model, every farmer for himself, then the market tries to produce only what is needed, and not a bushel more. The problem is, eventually, there's going to be a bad year, and our country faces A: Famine or B: Reliance on jacked up prices and non-fda inspected food imported from another country. The following season there are going to be farmers that didn't make it through the last season's troubles, and the farmers that did make it through aren't in a position to immediately expand their operations into the newly on-the-market farmland. The season goes great, just enough rain, no blight. But there's still a food shortage because of the # farmers lost in the previous season and inability to rapidly take over their abandoned land to maintain gross production. The cycle continues.

You should read up on soviet history as it pertains to agriculture and food supply. Although communism and libertarianism are on opposite ends of the spectrum, the results on farming and food supply are very similar.

Everything you say is true, and I agree. However, the current situation is not the same as those to which you allude.

These subsidies are to compensate farmers for the foreign tariffs these farmers are now forced to pay. These tariffs are pure retaliation against Trump imposing import tariffs on foreign aluminum, iron, and steel.

This isn't due to a bad year due to drought or famine. It's entirely artificial. If people support the government helping out our metal miners and smelters through tariffs, and then bailing out farmers (and any other industry that is net-export), then so be it. But this is anathema to the free market.

P.S., tariff is just a fancy word for tax.

The trump tariffs (and the accompanying relief) are intended to be temporary and it’s been stated 1000 times.

The other countries aren’t just going to drop theirs because we ask them nicely.

This whole thing is a path to no tarriffs.

Socialists and libertarians are too short sighted and/or braindead to understand this.
