This is just embarrassing. You are in fact a better poster, but you owe some kind of penance for that one.

Why does it bother UGA fans so much that SC fans don't consider UGA a big rival?
It is like you need some sort of pat on the back a "hey they care more than we do because we are a rival to them but they are not one to us".
From an outsider's perspective I don't hear UGA vs USCE and think oh that's a big rivalry game.
In my mind it is more like Mississippi State/Auburn or Miss. State/ Arkansas. A fun game for the fanbases that has some meaning periodically but not really an actual rivalry.

You've completely missed the point. It is their biggest SEC rival and 2 ND biggest rival and to say that UNC (a team they've played 3 times in 25 years) is a bigger rival is flat out delusional. You couldn'the find 10% of their fan base that agrees with em.
He's just playing a little game that's been going on for years on this board because UGA has other rivalry games they consider more important.

I'm with Scar fans on this one. I don't want this lower tier joke of a program to be even thought of as a rival to us. We already have Tech to claim in that department

Thank you. A voice of reason. Jesus f'ing Christ who cares about official rivalries? It's obvious both teams view each other as more than just another game...call it what you will

Exactly, it's more than just another game. It's a division game much like Kentucky or Vanderbilt.

I would rank GA behind CU, NCST, and UNC. We have a more heated history with all of those teams than UGA.

rival - noun - a person or thing competing with another for the same objective or for superiority in the same field of activity.
As I said, I dgas who your rivals are in order, but to claim that the historic rivalries with UNC (and NCSt as someone below claimed) are higher on the pecking order in 2018 than a team that you play every year would seemingly be a failure to understand what a rival is. You're not actively competing with UNC and or NCState on a regular basis for any form of superiority. You aren't competing for the "same objective" as you are no longer in the same conference (unless you're telling me that USC fans who believe this are expecting national title contention every year).
Of the probably 150-200 or so USC fans I know, I couldn't find more than 5 that would claim that UNC or NC State are bigger rivals *today* than Georgia would be for you.
And I know I don't speak for all Georgia fans, but USC probably *should* be in the 3 slot these days for us (at least until Ga Tech decides they want to take football seriously again).

Considering you are 18-50-2 vs UGA I most definitely agree with you statement 100%...
A 27% winning% vs UGA doesn't make much of a rivalry...

South Carolina and Kentucky seem to be pretty big rivals these days.

I'm still perplexed why this is such a hot button issue. To me personally, UGA has 3 "rivals" and a handful of rotating nemeses. 3 is obviously more than most teams have but they all are valid. GT/UF/AU each have their place in the history of UGA football and I think without question would be considered rivals.
Then you have the rotating group. Throughout the 80s UGA/clemson was national and produced some terrific games and national title winners. That doesn't make them our rival necessarily though. In the 90s UT rose to prominence and was a game many UGA fans wanted to win more than probably some of our main 3 rivals. Once spurrier took over SC they shot themselves to the forefront especially since they beat us a handful of times.
But there is still the main 3 and everyone else is below them in the pecking order. It's not belittling them, or saying they suck, it's jsut that there's not any more room since the main 3 have always been there and always will be.

I'm not even sure how many young fans consider Georgia Tech a heated rivalry, at least on the Georgia side. Outside of the Spurrier years, South Carolina was just another Vanderbilt or Kentucky. It has to stem from the Spurrier hatred for Georgia. I lived there for six years, if it wasn't Clemson it was Georgia. Time will tell where this game goes, but one thing is for sure, it will never replace the Florida or Auburn games.

I think when Spurrier quit the rivalry basically ended . He made the series and programs some what Competitive. Now Georgia is clearly the better program with the better HC.

Georgia had always been the better program.
It takes a lot to upstage a program.
Even when we had some wins here and there what do we have to show for it? Years we beat them they still took the division.
Hardware is what matters. WE basically got nothing out of those 11 and 10 win seasons.

Agreed. Cocks have been dominated in this "rivalry".

would you call Texas and A&M a rivalry? (pre SEC expansion, now that they don't meet)
or is that different because that was in state?
