I really hope Lyle dies from an infected taint

Can’t say that any of that is too surprising. Direct correlation to competency at the HC position.

When do the 2018 talent rankings come out?
Posted on 7/8/18 at 5:02 pm to SummerOfGeorge
Lol, Bama has about as many 5* players as #2, #3 and #4 combined.
Nothing fishy.
Nothing fishy.

Not until right before the season I think - they wait to make sure they have the whole roster. It might be August? Not positive.

Why would a good recruit want to come to the best program in football? Wins games and NCs at an unprecedented rate, puts more kids in the NFL, more first rounders, is the top developer of talent, hone your skills by practicing against the best, great facilities, great support staff, great fan support. What is there not to like?
The real question is, why do they have 64 non-five stars vs only 18 five stars ?

Now this is a great offseason thread.

I’m curious, what was the “dindu nuffin” explanation Bama fans used to give when they signed multiple similar classes fresh off a loss to ULM and no titles to speak of?

Yep. We cheat a ton more than everybody else. As evidenced by that one Top 5 class we signed in the Rivals.com era, despite two natty appearances.
I mean, just look at all those strange 5* flips we took from Bama for several years around signing periods.
Hell, Bama even had a 5* OL commit to them on ESPN on NSD, right after they won a natty, and he ended up signing with us.
We even fired an assistant coach for lying about recruiting violations, then randomly paid him an additional $350k 6 months after we axed him. Hush money for sure.

This shows that if Dan Mullen COULD recruit in the top 10 he would be in the finals on the reg... stay positive florida fans. Maybe one day. We waited 9 years. Maybe it will just take 10 and we weren't patient enough

This is very interesting, and it highlights in concrete form the gap that is taking place between the Top 4 teams and then the next best programs.
If you go back and look at the rankings in 2015, 2016, and 2017, and then split the SEC into three tiers: Top 4... Middle Six... and Bottom 4, the top-heavy nature of the SEC becomes more evident.
Top 4 teams:
*In 2015, the average score in this group was 903.6
*In 2016, the average score in this group was 909.4
*In 2017, the average score in this group was 922.3
The Middle 6 teams:
*In 2015, the average score in this group was 769.3
*In 2016, the average score in this group was 771.9
*In 2017, the average score in this group was 771.9
The Bottom 4 teams:
*In 2015, the average score in this group was 641.2
*In 2016, the average score in this group was 646.0
*In 2017, the average score in this group was 649.9
Here are how the three tiers rank in terms of average appreciation:
+18.7 points- The Top 4 Tier
+8.1 points- The Bottom 4 Tier
+2.6 points- The Middle Tier
The Top 4 teams (Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Auburn) have been pulling further ahead in terms of overall talent.... while there's been more parity between the Middle and Bottom tiers.
I suspect this trend will continue when the 2018 data is released.
