Rangs,

Source: No. 1 football team in the SEC for NCAA graduation rate? It's South Carolina

quote:

The most recent numbers reflect the incoming classes from 2007 to 2010. Of that group, 98 percent graduated within six years or left in good academic standing.

That number ranks first in the SEC, ahead of Vanderbilt at 90 percent.

That's eight percentage points ahead of the nearest competition for you non-graduating readers. EIGHT

quote:

That number is tied for fourth nationally, behind Harvard, Northwestern and Dartmouth and with Brown and Columbia (N.Y.).

We Ivy League now boys.

They're kinda glossing over that particular criterion, aren't they? Leaving in good academic standing isn't the same as graduating. I'm not even sure what it means -- couldn't a freshman who aced all first semester classes and then decided to just quit school to deal drugs be said to have "left in good academic standing?"

Arky is only that low because all the non NFL caliber players (oh wait that’s the whole team) realized they don’t need a college degree to be greeted at Wal Mart

We have 21 different majors represented on our football team. Most schools have two.

Congrats SC, but this is just a meat-headed statement by Muschamp

SC has a program called the "Gamecock promise". It allows any former student athlete to complete their degree at no cost. (many other schools have similar programs)

quote:

As part of The Gamecock Promise, any former student-athlete who left the University can return at any point to complete their undergraduate degree at no cost - meaning full access to facilities and resources.

USCe football alone representing 21 different majors is impressive as well. That alone requires a great deal of coordination, flexibility, and support by all parties. Great selling point for the program looking to attract quality student athletes.

I wonder how it compares to other SEC schools. Article mentions some schools only have football players in 2 majors, that is astonishing, hard to believe he is correct, given an 85 man scholarship roster and 100+ team roster.
