The irony is that Alabama fans, who will defend their bogus title claims to their death bed, are up in arms over UCF claiming a title for going undefeated.

Not really but there was not an official or even unofficial method of choosing a national champion in 1941. I mean UCF did agree that the playoff winner would be the national champion.

FBS College Football is about as broken as it gets when determining the champion. It is what it is, and that’s why it has an added intrigue to it.
You’ll call his sour grapes, but I don’t care. If there’s even a remote possibility of a coach sabotaging his coaches poll ranking to hurt a team he’s competing with, then you’ve got a problem.
To say UCF doesn’t deserve to be called the national champion is ludicrous
To say UCF is the true national champion is also ludicrous
To say that UCF is the best team in the country is probably foolish, but we’ll never know

UCF has a right to claim a championship just based on beating the team that beat both the participants in the NC Game. Do I think they are better ? No, but they have a claim.

FBS is broken, my friend. I’m not a proponent for G5 schools to get into the playoffs, but they definitely 10 steps behind Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio state when it comes to getting into the playoffs.
