Not the NCAA, but the Playoff threw the mid-majors a bone/Bowl in order to prevent them from forming their own division and playoff system. The P5 Conferences really do not want that to happen.

They do not want it because if would force them to play each other and cannibalize each other. The last thing they want is for a P5 Champion to have 3-4 loses.

That is never going to happen. The last thing the P5 want is some directional school no one knows in the playoff

Do the math, 60 Teams having to fill a 12 Game schedule. You will start seeing some divisional breakdowns where a team plays other teams twice in the regular season (NFL Style). I do not think that would be good for the College Game.

Which school was it that hired someone in the 80s to dig through old records and find old titles to claim? It wasn't lsu, auburn, aTm, arky, ole miss, miss state, UT, UK, USC, UGA, UF, Mizzou, or Vandy if that helps

The P5 don't give a rat frick whether or not the G5 form their own division. The G5 need to play the P5 in order to maintain their existence. The P5 could simply play each other and would make out just fine.

Georgia did it too, yet you don't call them out for some reason. Same with Kentucky and Ole Miss.

Most of the other schools did the same thing. But you're right: they didn't do it in the '80s.
