Mike is on the hot seat

And we gave him a two year extension? Look I'm not a Mike hater, but we all knew this season was going to be determined by how we did in the NCAA tournament. Didn't get it done and this is is a very talented team. We got blown out in the first round. This is still one of our best periods in recent history; I wouldn't fire him yet. That being said, it's time we look elsewhere. If he dosen't make the NCAA tournament next year, we have to see if we can make an upgrade over him.

He's not going anywhere anytime soon. Don't let message board posters get in your head. I'm not defending him by any means either.

Brother, we've been getting blown out all season. Mike did an awful job coaching this season. He should be on the hot seat, but he'll get another free pass.

We need to have someone in waiting for when the day comes. Don't wait until fan contempt demands that we fire Mike and then start looking around. That's what we normally do and then we're left scraping the bottom of the barrel for a replacement. If we do that again, then we're likely to end up with a replacement who's worse than Mike.

I've been a huge Mike Anderson fan the whole year and I still am, but here's my two cents:
I believe an Arkansas basketball coach should be able to win at least 65% of his games, and we should be making the tournament for the majority of the time.
Assuming we struggle next year because of all of the new faces, losing in the first round doesn't buy you enough goodwill. Regardless of the youth on next year's team, if we don't make the tournament Mike Anderson's seat will become very hot.

It's not just losing in the first round. It's getting blown out in the first round. We don't lose close games. We get blown out.

Semantics aside, I agree with you. But the point still stands. I don't think we would be saying anything different if it was a 5 pt loss versus a 15 pt loss.

Main question I would ask is has mike reached his ceiling as compared to an upward trending conference. If the answer is yes you make the change. Don’t waste a year waiting to see and kill recruiting because nobody knows what’s up.

They ain't firing Mike while Nolan's alive.

Three of our five most talented players in the past 9 years or so.

This. Our conference isn't getting any easier. The SEC was horrible for about his first five years here, and we still didn't win shite. Mediocre Mike's window to be anything above mediocre is closing.

The way I look at it is as follows:
If we had made a deep tourney run, I would have been willing to give a pass for a disappointing year next year given the amount of youth we will have. However, since we flamed out early, I expect at least another tournament appearance, regardless of youth and regardless of whether Gafford goes or not. That's my stance at this point.

Probably could have flipped us and Miss St if we'd been willing to pay for Perry.

At least if they had been in the same year people would be more willing to tolerate the shite that is coming next year. Even if they had been, two in eight is still horrendous. Georgia fired Mark Fox for slightly less.
