If you guys want to discount the TSIO because of recent lopsidedness, then you have to throw out the WLOCP, too.

Man...Bobby Dodd hated Bear Bryant. Of course, a lot of that came from Dodd playing against Bama in the TSIO when he was a quarterback at UT.

I still hate those motherfrickers worse than Tenn., Auburn and LSU all put together! I remember when Coach Bryant had to wear a football helmet off the field at Grant Field in Atl. because the crowd was throwing whiskey bottles down from the stands at him. Alabama ran those sorry bastards out of the conference, because Dodd couldn't beat them...and the Atlanta Constitution sports writers declared war on Bryant/Alabama (Furman Bisher & co.) to make things worse.

You mean from your perspective. I don't consider LSU anything more than a fun SEC game against a good opponent.

Agreed. LSU-Alabama is not a rivalry, especially since LSU has lost seven in a row.

LSU doesn't have a rival. And some of us (OK, me) pretty much hates some SEC schools (Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Florida) equally.

LSU doesn't play Georgia or Tennessee enough to be worthy of hate, and the rest of the SEC teams (including Moo State) aren't significantly successful, weird or snotty to be worthy of hate. Though Missouri's mere inclusion in the conference and its SJW reputation inches merits consideration.

Bisher went after Wally Butts as well in the Saturday Evening Post article. Both won their libel suits and I think each settled for around 400k.Lot of money on the early 60's.

Y'all are developing a rivalry with A&M and you know it. Y'all just hate to admit it.

It bankrupted that rag!...Butts was able to retire with some $$$ and Bryant got the last laugh.

The stinking vols are our greatest rival in the SEC.

LSU is 2nd.

The Iron Bowl is a great game, but it lacks the importance of continuing to be better than the other 2.

At least from Bama's perspective.

You're the worst.

None of what you said is anywhere close to true.

It's fun to hate to Tennessee and it's fun to beat LSU, but I don't have to get up the next morning and go to church with LSU or Tennessee fans and see them everyday for the next 365 days. That's why the Iron Bowl is better than any other rivalry in all of sports. It's easy rooting against a team from another city (Yankees vs RedSox) or another state (Michigan vs Ohio St.) You don't have to worry about bragging rights because you'll never see any fans from the other team.

My wife and I went to North Alabama to look at some property around Weiss Lake. We visited a church there, and as they were showing us around they took us to a workout/weight room. The guy showing us around said the only rule they had was nobody could talk Alabama/Auburn football.

TSIO - the SEC champion has been in the game 39 times out of 100. Almost 40% of the time.

A whole lot of your brethren on this board were openly pulling for Alabama to win that game.

Although it rarely matters nationally I would mention LSU v Ole Miss. There is a pretty bad hatred there.

I remember when it was a HUGE game. Seemed to peak when Archie Manning was there, but still had a lot of steam. The rivalry has cooled somewhat a bit.

And I think that brings up a great point. Just because a rivalry was huge in the past doesn't mean it is now. I mean, who cares much about the Tenn/Alabama game now after 11 straight wins by Bama? Alabama/Auburn is still interesting to me, because Auburn always gives them fits and wins a lot.

Just my opinion.

Still true though sonny.

Alabama's record against Auburn would be more lopsided than our record against Tennessee if the Iron Bowl hadn't been put on hiatus for 40 years.

Isn't that bama's fault?

To your point...the greatest flaw in that logic is most people believed Auburn would beat uga in the SEC title game. You have to play the games to know the results.

LSU fans still hate bama worse, by the fire of 10000000 suns

Look, LSU fans will never have a constant rival.

I was born in 1987, and I have seen our fanbase hate 3 separate teams the most in my 30 years

In the 90s, our fanbase hated spurrier and florida the most

In the early 2000s, we hated Tubbs and Auburn the most

Since 2007, we have hated Saban and Bama the most

5. Alabama vs. Tennessee. Third Saturday in October. Once one of the best rivalries in the conference but has taken a downward turn due to Tennessee's recent ineptitude.

Higher.

And no matter the ineptitude of Tennessee (and there is a LOT of ineptitude there and always has been), we love beating them more than Auburn.

Auburn is just the last game of the season and a bump in the road. To them however, it's their biggest game of the year even more so than any game in the postseason for them.

quote:

6. LSU vs. Alabama. Nickname? (Saban Bowl I guess ) Was the biggest rivalry in the SEC during the first decade of this century, but has taken a backseat as of late due to Alabama's dominance.

This is always a big test for us as we respect the physicality of the Tigers. We definitely get up for it. But, so do the Tigers. This is *their* biggest game of the season. If they win it, there are no letdowns for them except if they play Alabama again. If they lose, they are in the pits and routinely drop the next game or two.

Gospel. Truth. Take that shite to the bank.
