1. Alabama vs. Auburn. Nickname: The Iron Bowl. Arguably the greatest rivalry in college football.

2. Georgia vs. Florida. The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Arguably the greatest neutral site rivalry in college football along with Texas vs. OU.

3. Georgia vs. Auburn. The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry. The rivalry has become much more contentious between the two fanbases as of late.

4. Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State. The Egg Bowl. Rarely matters nationally but the hatred these two schools feel for one another is second to none.

5. Alabama vs. Tennessee. Third Saturday in October. Once one of the best rivalries in the conference but has taken a downward turn due to Tennessee's recent ineptitude.

6. LSU vs. Alabama. Nickname? Was the biggest rivalry in the SEC during the first decade of this century, but has taken a backseat as of late due to Alabama's dominance.

7. Tennessee vs. Florida. Nickname? See explanation for #5.

8. LSU vs. Florida. Nickname? Yearly cross-divisional opponents and there is always tons of NFL talent on the field.

These would be my tier 1 rivalries ranked in order. There are obviously other rivalries, but I consider them secondary.

The stinking vols are our greatest rival in the SEC.

LSU is 2nd.

The Iron Bowl is a great game, but it lacks the importance of continuing to be better than the other 2.

At least from Bama's perspective.

I think your opinion is definitely in the minority.

It is obvious from this board that you are right. The Auburn Bama Love Fest is anything but a rivalry

Technically UGA and Tennessee are tied for second most SEC titles. Each school has 13.

You're right. I had forgotten that Georgia tied Tennessee with this year's SEC title, congratulations you passed LSU on the list. We still hate the stinking vols more

Not from MY perspective. I would move UT to third until they beat us - with Aubs and LSU being 1 and 2

You're what 20-25? Recent events are less important than overall

Overall, Nebraska is still a top three powerhouse then. Whenever the rivalry is worth a damn again, I’ll let you know.

I used to think this until they openly rooted for Alabama to win the national title. Michigan fans would never, ever, ever root for OSU to win the national title, even if the game was against Michigan State.

I think this would have gotten more upvotes if someone else had posted it.

Bama leads 55-38-7...prior to Saban the record was 44-38-7...hardly a rubber stamp. The Iron Bowl is currently 45-36-1...very comparable to what people over the age of 40 know that the TSIO was until recently.

State and Ole Miss have each beat Bama twice since the last time Tennessee won on the third Saturday in October, think about that.

The last eleven years are more relevant than the eleven before that, sorry old timers, but it's true. Bama-Tennessee is not a great rivalry anymore, it could make a comeback if Tennessee football develops a pulse.
