Barkley was 3-4 vs Alabama during his time at Auburn. 2 of those wins were in his senior year against an Alabama team that finished 17-12, 10-8 in the SEC. He was 1-4 vs Alabama the prior 2 years.
To be fair, the 1999 team played one of the weakest schedules I can remember. 7 ranked teams played, losing to 4? Their SOS was the second weakest in the SEC that season. Kentucky likely goes perfect in the regular season with Auburn's schedule that year.
This year's AU team is much more impressive considering how strong the SEC is this year. It wasn't terribly strong that year, so the 1999 team may be a great one, but their resume doesn't really lend much to objectively rating them.

Nearly balanced out by the Tremont bomb to beat A&M. But yeah we're all over the place. Much improved and trending the right way though.
