Saban has signed 8 #1 classes in a row. Him not being #1 is stupid
And Miles was a better recruiter than Cooper and Brown

I hate Miami but Howard AND Butch both deserve to be on this list.

Barry Switzer has to be up there.
Osborne is kind of a weird deal.
They used to get a zillion walk ons back in the 70's and 80's and of course juice em up.
Started recruiting some really bad kids from Texas and California in the 90's after he lost around 7 bowl games in a row in the late 80's/early 90's

Since 1970? And Paul "Bear" Bryant isn't on the list?

Isn't the U perhaps the best recruiting situation in the country at least geographically?
How many top 100's and 4/5 stars are within an hour's drive of the campus?

Didn't Jimmy Johnson pave that road?

Bear Bryant should be there. Remember all of you say that he got all the good players just to sit them on the bench to keep them from going elsewhere.
There was no limitation to the number of scholarships that could be awarded, so Bear was able to obtain pretty much any player he set his eyes on.... of course all the other coaches had limits.

Spurrier wasn't that great of a recruiter (relatively speaking)

Howard Schnellenberger for what he did to get kids in the Miami area to stay home and build the foundation that led to the successes of JJ and others is top 3 without a doubt imo. The talent on those U teams were some of the most talented in history and it all started with HS building a wall across South Florida, granted a lot of it was done outside the rules but everyone was cheating back then. A lot of the newer coaches that have talented squads lean heavily on the ace recruiters on their staffs, they may swoop in and close the deal but throughout the process I think they hand off a lot of the shite unlike the old school guys.

Schnellenberger started the state of south Florida (recruiting just that area), Jimmy Johnson moved linebackers to dline and safeties to linebacker, he pushed the speed and recruited that way. Bowden recruited better players than Saban but recruiting wasn't as followed (Deion Sanders, Randy Moss, Charlie Ward, Derrick Brooks. Stack Sabans best 20 and Bobbys best 20 and it's not all that close, Bobby is the greatest recruiter CFB has ever seen. Spurrier wasn't a great recruiter, great coach but his heart wasn't in recruiting.
