I'm sure... I've always said "I get it" when Auburn fans that live in Atlanta hate UGA (or vice versa given the large quantity of Auburn peeps in ATL)... proximity to rival fans breeds more contempt.

agreed many opinions are not total melts, total melts should be reserved for the "The B1G official that had been previously dismissed-his son is a friend of a lawyer Saban is friends with from his days in East Lansing. The official made the calls on purpose. "

Very true - calling anything and everything a melt does nothing but cheapen the true, rare, glorious melts.

Gotta say, this one stung but it wasn't as bad as the feeling of having my heart ripped out in the 2012 SECCG. I felt that sucker acutely for weeks.

When we rate the melts, are we rating the accuracy of the information of the melt or the quality of the whining in the melt?

As far as the format of this thread, you have my full support and undying loyalty.
I felt like this should be something that we keep for posterity's sake. The party line from the Aubie shite posters is that UGA fans are "the worst" and "talk shite until the game ends in a loss then melt epically"... blah blah blah.
After what is objectively a very difficult loss to take, seems appropriate that we take stock and really evaluate those claims. I for one am looking forward to all of the melts that will be shared here. It will also let me know who I can either start ignoring or continue to ignore of our own fanbase as well. Dual purpose.

A melt emits pure emotion in its rawest form, regardless of the legitimacy of the content.

Example : SOG to his wife in the far reaches of the 300 level at halftime
"I'll tell you right now, if Tua doesn't start the 2nd half I'm taking my arse to the MARTA station. Saban is the GOAT my arse. Fvckin embarrassment. Fire all their asses"

I think quality of the whining and/or *lack* of validity/accuracy to the commentary. Making a factual statement that the officiating was poor shouldn't override someone calling the Alabama team/program "a fraud" for example. Context is important... supporting evidence of comments in other threads is appreciated for fringe melt cases.

I'd say the whining and hate flow are the key factors. Anyone can say the refs cheated but it's zeal and anger that get the points.

That’s right, rhino.
A good melt doesn’t bow to facts. Not because melting can’t be factually based, but because melting is the expression of pure emotion so raw and authentic that the poster doesn’t consider or value judgement of their stability
