Let the G5 start their own playoffs:
5 conference champions, 5 at large teams
Play in minor bowl games they play in now:
2 play in games: Las Vegas Bowl, AutoNation Bowl
Round 2
New Mexico Bowl, Raycom Media Cure Bowl, Frisco Bowl, Gasparilla Bowl
Semi-Finals
Lockheed Martin Armed Services Bowl, Military Bowl by Northrup Grumman
Finals played the Saturday before the P5 Championship Game.
Rotate Location
The minor bowls would draw interest, attendance and regain some lost value with the Playoffs in play with P5.
just an option to what is out there now.

Or they could just schedule a good team once in a while.

Winner gets the World’s Tallest Midget Trophy.

I mean it would actually be a smart idea for the P5 and Group of five to split.
They have no business competing for the same national title.

All these Anti-SEC so called talking heads would shut up and move on.. Kannel and Brando have lost it over SEC vs SEC

Some of their conference commissioners have discussed the possibility. Even before all of this mess.

I agree, but it’s just not going to happen. No one would take it seriously. It would basically become the D2 of D1.

quote:Right. This has been cussed and discussed for a while now, especially in the inner-circle of the conference commissioners. Many ADs, HCs and administrators are receptive. It's all about the $$$$.

The Go5 really should be their own division.
it's clear the Georgia State's of the world have no business being in the same "division" as the Alabama's and Ohio State's

I don't get the sudden outrage. We have all known good and fricking well that none of the G5 teams will not only never win a national title, they will never get a chance to compete for one either. The best they can hope for is to grow their brand and following big enough to attract some P5 suitors during conference expansion.
And we will know when college football is officially dead when they expand to an 8 team playoff in reaction to all this pissing and moaning. That Clemson and Ohio State fanbases seem to be leading the charge toward an 8 team playoff over the other "controversy" - Bama being in, leading to an all SEC title game - is fricking abhorrent.
They're actively rooting for the death of the regular season all because two teams that haven't played since 2015 are going to meet up in the national title game under a single conference banner. Nevermind that these are clearly the best 2 teams in college football this year. Nevermind that the storylines surrounding this game are intriguing. Nevermind that many of the players involved are going to spend the next decade starting in the NFL. It all says SEC so it's clearly time to destroy the sport.
As if 2 SEC teams wouldn't end up meeting in the finals of an 8 team playoff.

I'm actually all for cutting the G5 out of the FBS and having the P5 forming its own league within the FBS. Then treat the G5 like the English Premiere League in Britain. The teams that are worthy to be in a P5 conference move up while those P5 teams that exude consistent badness move down to G5.

I mean that's exactly what we have already. It's just not clearly stated that that's what it is and so P5 teams and fanbases like to conveniently forget their complicity in this informal league structure when it fits their agenda.

We should do what Premier league soccer does. Best G5 school gets promoted and worst P5 demoted a year. Next year Tennessee would be in the Sunbelt.

Been saying this for year's and it's beyond retarded it hasn't happened already. It should not be possible in sports to go undefeated and have not even a chance to win a title.
There is no other sport in the world where nearly half the teams enter the season with 0 shot to win no matter what they do. How does that make any sense to anybody?

It's much more than that. Of the 130 teams that entered the 2017 season with an 0-0 record, realistically only about 12-15 of them had a shot to win the national championship. Three of the four teams that made the playoffs were ranked in the Top 10 in pre-season and all four of them were ranked in the Top 15.

I am a college football guy, I attempt to watch any D2, IAA, NJCAA playoff game that is out there, I know my interest level would be raised much more if these minor bowl games at some implications to the next set of minor bowl games.

Every bowl game should matter. Read the link I posted for how to make that happen.

I have argued this for years.
