Who/what taught you the earth is flat and how did they/the internet convince you of this? It's mind boggling to me

I saw something on Flat Earthers on FB the other day. Didn't even know that was a thing. They got a conference in NC and everything.

Who taught you that the earth was round? Pretty easy to just tell kids something

Same here. I think they fall into 3 groups:
Trolls who want to make others jump through hoops for the hell of it. I'd like to believe this is the majority.

Biblical-inerrancy believers who have misinterpreted what the Bible says, or had drivel spoon-fed to them.

Wackos. Fake moon landings, 9/11 coverup, Elvis is alive. All the same mindset.

I actually grew up as a sphere-sheeple but I got redpilled a few years ago.

The truth is it's more of a disk.

My friend has been living in Colorado for the past 6 months. Obviously a much higher elevation than in South Texas. He told me that he could feel the sun being closer. My girlfriend and I gave each other that look. Unless I see it for myself it will be hard for me to ever concede that the Earth is a ball. Just looking at sun rays I can tell the sun is not 90 million miles away.

I fell off once. Not going that close to the edge ever again.

I have never seen the curvature but as a surveyor I have have seen it mathematically when taking sun and star shoots 25 years ago. Does that prove anything

Please, everyone knows that the Earth is flat and rests on the backs of four enormous elephants who, in turn, fly through space on the back of the great turtle A'Tuin. Just watch any of the adaptions of Terry Pratchett's Discworld books.

We had a guy at my old job before I opened my own business convinced of it. Was hilarious. He would dismiss any notion that it wasn't true.

Still never answered how tides work if the Earth is flat.

Like many "anti-science" beliefs, the idea of a flat earth is the result of people taking the Bible way too seriously.
