One of my best friends during my time in the Marine Corps has been begging me to go to A&M with him. I originally told him no because LSU but frick giving them any of the governments money

I get out in april and it’ll have been 5 years since I’ve been in any former schooling so I want to get my feet wet at community college before transferring to a big university.

How are the class sizes? Is it basically a feeder school into A&M? Campus Nice? Any information would be greatly appreciated

This is a thread requesting serious information and also a little bit of me melting.

It's the kind of place where security guards smoke cigs in front of the no smoking sign

I don’t know a ton about it but definitely target the one in Bryan. There’s two campuses, and the one in Bryan is right next to A&M

Bryan and CS basically overlap

Small overall. Yes. Very nice, like a kindergarden in a rich suburb.

So the Bryan campus isn’t trashy?

It's a junior college and Bryan itself isn't the nicest town outside of their main street area. I wouldn't call the actual campus itself trashy but Bryan has its parts

It's a nice school that directly funnels to A&M. Can't really speak much on the things like classes, but I know there are some courses that actually have A&M professors teaching the course and is in many ways geared towards getting people into A&M

I think a lot of it is kids looking to go to A&M. And A&M kids definitely take classes at Blinn too since the credit transfers. From the outside it looks pretty nice for a community college

I never took classes at Blinn but did get some dual credit in high school from them and had a lot of friends that went to the Bryan location. Also have an aunt who has taught at both locations.

The Brenham one is less “trashy” than the Bryan school, better students and programs. But the Bryan location because of its proximity to A&M is better set up to help you transfer into A&M after a year or two.

So there’s some give and take, but both schools are definitely feeder schools into A&M and have programs like Blinn-team and the gateway program that are specifically designed around helping students make the transition.

Class size will vary by course just like at most other institutions of higher education, might have some small classes but most are medium to big.

The Bryan campus is nice, built within last 10 years. Classes are not difficult, can make decent grades. Quite a few Aggies take freshman courses at Blinn and transfer them over - because cheaper and easier.

2423 Blinn Boulevard, Bryan, TX

Use address with google map to look at campus.

To me, the best reason to go to the Brenham campus is the proximity to Blue Bell Ice Cream!

Just looking at this, Blinn seems to be expanding its facilities in Bryan. Looks pretty nice.

theres actually 3 campuses, one in schulenburg as well. i went to blinn in bryan for a year before transferring to A&M. was a positive experience. more access to profs, better teaching, smaller classes, cheaper than A&M. i took 6-12 hours there every summer even after getting accepted to A&M. was a great way to knock out the more challenging classes like calculus and physics cause i actually got instruction from a prof instead of some ESL foreign exchange TA.

I took one summer class at Blinn. Very small. Easy enough. Would recommend. Plus you get most of the benefits of being in BCD.

Yeah I knew a lot of a&m kids that took classes there because it was perceived to be easier and cheaper. I’m also aware of a decent amount of former military folks in your situation that started there, so you wouldn’t feel old or out of place I don’t think. Good luck to you, whatever you choose.

I took classes there 14 years ago and it had been there long before I went there.

Consistently a top ranked junior college

I received my associates there before transferring on, if you want to do at least 30 to 60 hours I recommend the Brenham campus for a college feel.

Not the same buildings as 14 years ago. Campus has grown considerably.
