Auburn could have hired Kirby after the 2012 season.

Not saying that Kirby is better than Gus but it does look that way. Kirby interviewed at auburn because Pat Dye recommended him for the job. Glad you guys hired Gus honestly. What do you think and what did you think at the time?

Kirby turned down the job. No troll, fact.
ETA- Kirby was offered good jobs every year for ten damn years. He was smart enough to hold out for the right gig.

He wanted the Jawja job for obvious reasons. Had he been hired somewhere else he would've left for the Jawja job, with few exceptions.

He would have left for UGA anyways

Auburn was never a good fit with Kriby. Worked out ok for both I think.

Because he wanted total control of the program and wouldn’t get it.

This is true. In fairness, if I was Kirby at that time I would ask for it too. He knew he would get a head coaching job eventually so do it on your terms if you can

Kirby looks great right now but he also inherited a waaayyyyy better situation than he would have at Auburn (or just about anywhere else). No regrets, worked out for everyone IMO.

I agree you aren’t trolling but if you expect us to believe you know for a fact he turned Auburn down than you are either trolling or are a fool.
It seems clear he wasn’t offered. However it was also clear Auburn wouldn’t accept some of his negotiation demands.
As has been said taking over Auburn would have been much tougher than taking uga circa 2015.

The one coach that has proven he can beat Saban, you're happy he was hired? Why?

One required 2 miracles. The other just flat out dominated

We had no senior class when Kirby got here.
Yeah. We had studs as juniors and sophomores. And Kirby held together a good freshman class.
But literally, no senior leadership (the best senior was a grad transfer from Alabama).
The difference between 2017 and 2016 is senior leadership. And Kirby had to convince 4 guys to return to the senior class instead of the draft.
Kirby had to earn that freshman class in '16.
And he had to earn this senior class in '17.
Kirby deserves a lot more credit than you are giving him.

Losing a game by 23 points is “flat out dominating?”
Whatever gets you through the day.

Bruh. AU went 3-9 before Gus got there....

Yeah but every 4 years Gus has a good team.

Auburn interviewed Kirby. Kirby was never close to getting the job. He wanted more than Auburn was willing to give him........and I'm not talking about money.

Nobody said Kirby inherited the "perfect" situation, but compared to Auburn 2012 it was waaayyyyy better. Auburn was without D-I Lb's in 2013. Only had one legit DB and DL. No QB. Looking back at 2013 the miracle that season was that team and it's ability to win.

What bowl is Auburn playing in? I seem to have somehow forgotten.
