Say 16 team conferences With each conference having 4 divisions with 4 teams each. Each team plays the other 3 in their division, and 2 from each other division rotating for 9 conference games. 2 OOC games. 11 game regular season. Winner of each division goes to conference championship playoffs. Winner of each conference championship playoff goes to national 4 team playoff.l, 4 teams made up of each conference champion, to determine the national champion.

All other teams with winning seasons go to bowl games.

This is the best system (or 8 small conferences). Unfortunately ESPN and the REC won't allow it because it would mean no committee gets to select Bama every season whether they are deserving or not.

16 team conferences are too unwieldy. Once you split into divisions, teams in opposite divisions will almost never play each other.

I would rather have 6 conferences of 12 teams than 4 conferences of 16 teams.

I'd rather have two rivals and rotate the rest. And screw divisions. Divisions aren't always equally talented.

Just be glad we allow Auburn to have a university.

Go to 4 10 or 11 team conferences, 8 9 team conferences, or something like that. These ideas of super conferences are retarded.

Making 8 playoff teams with the first round homefield would be easier.

In the example given of 4 team divisions, you could play everyone in the conference over a two year period. You have divisions A, B, C, and D. You're in Division A. You play half of B, C, and D in year one. The next year you play the other half. Or you could keep it home/home and then rotate one off while adding another one, and you end up playing the whole conference over 4 years.

Not true. My system would allow each team to play the other 3 in its division every year, and 2 teams from each of the other 3 divisions through a rotation, meaning you'd have played every team in the conference within every 3 years if you alternate home/away in consecutive years.

Currently in the sec our rotating cross division opponent gets played every 7 years. You'd play teams more often in my system.

Also the 4 conferences would be made up of power 5 conference teams.

The mid majors like ucf would be in a separate league with their own playoff, national champion, and affiliated bowl games. They would not play anyone in the super conferences. No rent a wins.

That’s not too bad, but I just know LSU would end up in a shitty division with A&M, Arkansas, and Mizzou.

How do they decide which teams make the conference title game?

There are 130 teams in FBS. What do you do with the rest?

Because there isn't a king or commissioner of college football to force something like that.

Thank god.

The 2nd group of "lesser schools" would be nearly like the lower division of soccer...but they'd have their own championship. They might like that too and it would keep everyone happy.

So basically, they become the FCS.

Lets have teams play in their own conferences, then a committee picks the best 4 teams to go to a playoff. Fun is had by all. No crappyass2,3 or 4 loss teams, no participation trophies. No apple slices and team moms giving out snacks at halftime

This is why it would never happen. No way to back door Bama in every year.
