Fwiw, this was the CBS take in his performance at the combine...
quote:
4. Nicolas Claxton, rising
Georgia sophomore big man Nicolas Claxton -- wow. He ran the floor really well, showed off some nice post moves, and was generally a havoc-wreaking menace when he was scrimmaging.
Claxton ate Moses Brown's lunch on multiple occasions when they were matched up, including a swat that surprised Brown himself. His potential as a floor-spacer and rim-running big man has opened up folks' eyes in Chicago, and it's possible he benefitted more than any other big man from Thursday's scrimmage portion of the combine.

I don’t think UGA gets Precious... it’s been speculation and most believe it’s a Memphis-KU-UNC battle... really hope Claxton comes back... I saw 6 different Mock drafts this evening and the highest I saw was 26 (post combine) which could explain his rise... ESPN has him at like 40... IDK... tomorrow and this weekend could be very interesting.

Obviously I’d love Claxton to be back, but regardless I’m going to be really excited about our team next season.

any word on Clax. I saw that UT's Grant Williams is staying in the draft.

Why did you think it was tomorrow?
NBA site states:

underclassmen who have entered the 2019 Draft must withdraw by Wednesday, May 29.

There was an article on CBS... they also said Precious was a “sleeper” to UGA... so asleep that the MF didn’t wake up until Memphis tonight... so IDK... I get updates on my phone... just report... nothing else

No worries... just was curious if I was missing something. Sounds like he's got some more time...

Then what is Precious waiting on?
Waiting on Claxton to make up his mind? Claxton leaves, he comes to GA? Can’t make up his mind? Something more nefarious?
Just curious.

Nic Claxton | F/C | Georgia
Entering the combine with first-round potential, the 6-foot-11 big man showed enough flashes on both ends to garner interest in that range, making for a tough decision on whether to return to a Georgia team that brings in a stellar recruiting class and a potential No. 1 pick in the 2020 draft in Anthony Edwards.
Despite finishing with just seven points in 42 minutes on 3-of-8 shooting from the field and a head scratching 0-of-7 from the free throw line, Claxton blocked 11 shots, corralled four steals, switched on the perimeter seamlessly, knocked down an open spot 3 and measured out really well (7-foot-2½ wingspan and a 9-foot-2 standing reach, resembling a young Anthony Randolph, physically). While intriguing, Claxton proved that he is still more prospect than player. He is not overly physical on the defensive glass, with a thin, narrow lower body. He struggles to defend more aggressive bigs in the post, and he is a blank canvas offensively, with little in his scoring arsenal and questionable on-court decision-making.
With that said, his defensive agility, shot-blocking instincts and ability to knock down an occasional 3 and push in transition give him great upside. Scouts are intrigued by his modern fit on the defensive end of the floor. For a team that is willing to be patient with him, he could make sense in the late first round or early second round. Likely to spend a lot of time in the G League next season, Claxton could certainly boost his stock to top-10 status by returning for his junior season, especially with a reloaded Bulldogs team and the NBA eyeballs that Edwards brings. -- Schmitz

Not sure exactly how they come up with it, but ESPN has Claxton being the 12th best player in his first four years in the NBA.

If one were to put much stock into those numbers, however they came about, it would bode well for us considering they show an 82% chance that he's either a bench rider or out of the league 4 years into his career.
On a separate note, it looks like Clax is announcing his decision this evening prior to tomorrow's withdrawal deadline. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst.

Stadium reporting that Nic will be staying in the draft.

I think it's a massive mistake but will pull for him to do well.

And now Nic posted on IG that he hasn't made a decision and will announce tonight or in the morning.
So I have no idea what he'll do.

Yeah, I was holding off on sharing because I didn't really have a lot of faith in that dude from Stadium.

He’ll absolutely be a first round pick if he comes back IMO. I’m not sure if he will if he stays in the draft.
That’s all the reason in the world to come back to Athens. Guaranteed contract is so big.
