I like GA but they're not #1, Bama is until someone knocks them off.
I’d be fine with Bama as number one, but they don’t deserve it based on what they’ve done in the past. The CFP committee looks (or is supposed to look) solely at this year’s resume and try to get the best teams. I don’t think Bama has played a ranked team yet.

get through the regular season first before you start buying tickets for a game that might not happen !

Notre Dame does if Georgia wins.

I think you got it backwards.

They lost to them, at home, and would have one less victory.
Really pissed UGA didn't take care of business that week and blow them out. ND is nowhere near good enough to get to the CFP.

That means we have the biggest target
Kinda....Bama always has a target on them

It also means that theoretically, we have a better chance of getting in after losing than Bama does
I agree

FSU was ranked when they played them but Bama broke them like Humpy Dumpty and they couldn't be put back together

Only one gets in imo.
It's a play in game.
I understand and I tend to agree, but ND doesn't have to play to get i? I mean, if they remain undefeated, they won't play a conference championship game. The committee punished the Big 12 a couple of years ago for not having a championship game.
If ND gets in over the close loser of the SECCG you would be penalizing the SEC for having a championship game and rewarding ND for not playing in one.

Concur with scenario 1.
I think scenario 2 depends on ND.
A one loss UGA that loses a close SEC CG to UA gets in if ND is still a 1 loss team.
Committee will not desire placing 2 tms from same conf in the playoffs, especially if it creates a 1 vs 4 first round rematch.
But, I can't see how they can leave UGA out and keep ND in under that scenario.
Further, havinga UGA #1, now, may help the committee as well in that scenario.
If #2 beats #1 beats in a non-competitive SEC CG, 1 falls out and there is little drama as the rematch would be even less desired. 1 loss ND still gets in under the auspices that they progressed more since the UGA loss and have better SOS/SOR.
If #2 beats #1 in a close, competitive game and #1 still has a quality win over another top 4 playoff contender (ND), #1 slips to 2 or, more likely, 3.
1st round rematch avoided with UA and UGA in back to back games. ND slips to 4, using no conf championship as rationale, but it really just prevents a 1st Rd UGA vs ND game. If UGA and ND advance to finals, so be it.
I think that is best case for the scenario.

I heard someone, maybe Packer, explaining that ND doesn't play an FCS team, where the rest of us do.
In the eyes of the committee, then, they would have the same number of meaningful games as a team who played an extra conference championship game.

Scenario #2:
#2 Alabama defeats #1 Georgia. Both Alabama and Georgia are in.
Assuming its bamas only loss, I'd say probably but depends on other conferences. Bama would have beat a ranked LSU, State and Auburn by then

What say you?
LSU beats Bama
LSU beats Bama

Whichever is ranked #1 in the SECCG will definitely get in regardless of the outcome of the game IF it's a close game. Guarantee it.
This late loss crap is poll stuff. The committee has proven to do the sensible and right thing every year so far. A lot of y'all still have the old poll mindset.
Look at where they have Miami and Wisconsin. That shows you their way of thinking. They will not penalize a top 2 team for losing a close game to a top 2 team.
