I look at it this way. We got 9 years out of him. He got us to a NY6 Bowl and #1. Did we win a championship? No, but he proved it can be done. We literally finished 1 game out of the playoffs.

I would rather keep him, but if he leaves, I get it. I tell him thanks and start tracking flights.

Nervous? Not really. This happens every year. He's always tied to openings. It's funny though. 50% of other fans say no one wants him, 50% say he's too good for MSU and has 1 foot out the door.

And, no, he is not a king in starkville. He was on the hot seat in 2013. Another season like last year this year would have put him there again. That's an old joke that's not funny.

Personally, I dont think he's Go Gata. Neither one seems to like the other.

He needs to leave so that ordered can be restored, and Moo St. can go back to the bottom with the likes of Ole Miss, Faggy, and Hog.

Mullen is upsetting the football gods. He'd better leave while he can.

I was never thinking he would even consider FL. Coaches will avoid that place like the plague unless FL throws a very enticing salary to deal with the constant BS.

I think other programs like Nebraska for instance come calling. Throw more money at him and he would instantly be in an easier conference.

On the flip side, 8-4 and 7-5 seasons would keep everyone at State happy so I don’t think Mullen would chance it knowing he has it made.

Uh, because money talks? Don’t start that “loyal” to his school shite.

And, a school like State isn’t getting into a bidding war. Especially with yall’s AD.

Do you believe that Nebraska is going to pay $5 million to Mullen?

Mullen would be incredibly dumb to go anywhere this year. But honestly, if I were worried, it would be about Tennessee.
It's in the East, it's a different setting and prettier than most of the SEC, and would probably appeal to the Missus. However, Mullen would still have to play Bama at least once a year though, and Georgia once a year, so not worried.

I don’t know what they’ll do. They’re still paying Pelini & currently Riley.

They’re also desperate to be relevant again.

Nebraska doesn't even get a full share of Big10 money, yet. Stop assuming

Not trolling. Are State fans nervous that Mullen is about to be pulled away from Starkville? What happens then?

Mullen has been leaving every year since 2010 according to opposing fans and pundits. Wake me up when there is a moving truck in his driveway.

You gotta think Florida hired Stricklin in part because they want Merlins.

Mullen already knows what he can do with Florida recruits. He knows he'll never win championships at State. It's a nice safe job but he got a taste of the big time under Urban at Florida.

Stricklin knows what he needs to do.

Personally, I hope they fail. I like Florida just the way they are. They've are 3-6 against LSU since Mullen left Gainesville. In those 3 wins, the most they scored was 16 points. Merlins has beaten LSU twice and dropped 30+ points on them in both wins.

I hope Mullen has a nice career at State and retires. But I wouldn't bet on it.

He gone.

7-5 or 8-4 keeps everyone at State happy

There MAY be 20 programs in the entire country where averaging 8-4 is frowned upon. And of those 20, only 10 or so actually achieve anywhere near those results on a regular basis.

The bar raises over time. 6-6 was great 10 years ago. Now, it pisses people off. Right now 8-4 is good, 9-3 or 10-2 are great. In a few more years, 8-4 becomes "meh" (it's already getting close). It's all relative.

Your statement, as all blanket statements are, is kind of lazy at this point.

Many schools don't want to get into a biding war with MSU. Whenever Mullen does leave MSU, it won't be about money. Conversely, MSU can and will outbid a lot of programs, including Nebraska.

Stop being defensive and do your research.

As of 2016 fiscal reports, State ranks dead last in total revenue and total profit in the SEC. After this year, I expect it to be even lower because of all the renovations. State isn’t going to pay Mullen more or get into a bidding war for him. It’s just facts.

Well , then Florida was lazy. Mullen hired Sexton a few years ago as a direct shot over Stricklin's bow.

State already pays Mullen 2x what Nebraska pays. But you think Nebraska is going to outbid for Mullen? Ok, I don't know where else to go with that

I agree. He's got a fat-assed paycheck, and isn't expected to be competing for a natty. At all.

UF would be equally as dumb for not going after him, though...if he can make chicken salad out of Starkvegas, imagine what he could make out of the recruiting stroke out of Gville.

Not worried at all. If he leaves he leaves. The next guy will have a great class to work with. If he stays he stays. I just hope he doesn't shite the bed the rest of the season.
