Not trolling. Are State fans nervous that Mullen is about to be pulled away from Starkville? What happens then?

I’d be pissed. Mullen is a good coach

Apparently no one wants him.

Not too nervous. Don't think Florida is likely to take Mullen, and I'm not worried one bit about Tennessee or A&M.

I have confidence in the AD. And, just as important, history shows that any new coach would be given plenty of time to prove his worth. MSU is not a pressurized cauldron that tries to break coaches

To Florida? Nah

I will be worried if a big job like Michigan opens up though.

It may happen and it may not. There is talk every year, so I’ve learned not to worry about it.

I'm not sure that Mullen leaves for Florida. They fired a coach in the midst of a bad season, but who had won 19 (would have been 20 if not for a cancelled game) games the previous 2 seasons, to along with 2 division titles. Starksville loves Mullen and the dude is a king around that part of the state. A lot more pressure to win and win now in Gainesville. He's already making $4.25-$4.5 million per year, and he could probably parlay that into a raise if he finishes this year strong. He seems happy at MSU, but I've been wrong about a lot of shite before.

To be totally honest, if Mullen is going to leave any time soon, this is the year. Do I think he will? No. Do I think someone could make an offer enticing enough to lure him? Yes. Time will tell.

However, State can pay a coach now. I'm confident that we could find a quality replacement if necessary. Maybe not of Mullen's caliber, but an up and comer.

We don't want Merlins and our AD would like to still be welcome back home occasionally.

Well Mullen has definitely left us in good shape if he leaves. 2018 will be a good squad and the in state rival is dead for the next 20 years.

I'm unfamiliar with the population breakdown in Mississippi. I know that outside of MS, I see more Ole Miss stuff, but is it different in-state? 50/50, or skew more to one fan base?

I would imagine he's not well-liked in Oxford.

Not Nervous at all, but if he were to leave then we would hire a top offensive minded coach like Norvell at Memphis of the HC at Tulsa

Not really nervous at all. At this point we've priced him out of a job. He's making about 5 mil per year over the next 3 and we would probably go to 6 or 7.

The truth is he just isn't worth that much money to anyone else. There is a reason you don't see guys making that kind of money get pulled to other schools.
