Gus's record currently sits at 40-19. If we finish the year 11-2, that puts him at 46-20. The winning percentage list at AU in the modern era then becomes:
Bowden 0.731
Dye 0.711
Malzahn 0.697
Tuberville 0.680
Jordan 0.675
Chizik 0.635
Bowden 0.731
Dye 0.711
Malzahn 0.697
Tuberville 0.680
Jordan 0.675
Chizik 0.635

Due to lack of 2nd half adjustments. Hoping this year is different but not counting on it. He's insane (doing something over and over expecting a different result).

I just want him to coach a team that doesn't fold in the second half of the season.
Circumstances aside, I just want to see it with my own eyes.

In 2010 Auburn was a 2nd half team. Especially defensively. It always seemed like our game plan going into the game just flat out sucked and then we made the adjustments.

And it's much better to be THIS against good teams.

Honestly, 2 games are what really taint Malzahn's tenure so far. UGA 2015/2016. If he's 3-1 vs UGA, 2-2 vs LSU & still 1-3 vs BAMA his seat is so much cooler. Not that everyone would be happy but man it would feel a whole lot different

Different day and age. Probably had the most significant disadvantages recruiting than any Auburn coach in the modern age.

I'll take Gus 1000 times out of 1000 over ol' Pine Box Tommy.

Took a program verging on Vandy-level back to a national power. He'll always get a bottle of Beam as a Christmas present from me every year.

frick that retard.

2 games are what really taint Malzahn's tenure
Shite shows, the both of them. And Clempson's national rankings, be damned: both those games were VERY winnable with our personnel.
Gus just crapped the bed both times. I am still not on the Gus bus. Sure Gus has flashes of being a good coach. But flashes aren't going to win you a NC. He needs to coach a complete game, every game.
Gus' failure to get Malik Willis and Mailk Miller meaningful reps in the last two games is mind-boggling. Both are good but clearly need some work. I'm not upset that we didn't beat Ole Piss 60-14. But the sloppiness we saw this past weekend won't win the Georgia and Bama games and damn sure won't fly during the play-offs.
I love this team but I don't love Gus. (Read it and weep GA's. Tell Gus he still has a lot to prove to this fan base and the CFP playoff committee.)

I'm not. However, I firmly believe even with those losses as they were AND the A&M debacle if Gus beats UGA the last 2 years there's a whole lot more ppl still on the bus or at least not ready to throw him out. Not saying that's true for everyone but I think those 2 losses are his worst 2
Let me put it another way. I think if Gus had won the 2 Clemson games but still lost those UGA games I think everyone would still feel about the same. Maybe I am wrong. I just believe that losing to 2 inferior UGA teams has been WAY worse than losing (in stupid fashion I admit) 2 to top 5 Clemson teams

I'm no Tuberville fan but a raw Win% v Win% is extremely unfair to him and bias in Gus' favor
Things like
-Gus getting 12 games (i.e. extra cupcake W)
-SOS Rotating cross divisional opponents (SCAR, Mizz, Vandy, UK, Tenn)
-SEC has been bad in 2015/2016
-LSU/Arkansas were much better, Ole Miss under Cutcliffe solid

Its amazing how many people in these type of threads only want to continue to focus on the negatives. The positives are just circumstance.
I am glad I do not have to deal with some of these miserable fricks in daily life.
And I totally agree with beatbammer... I would take Gus over Tubbs anyday and I liked Tubbs.

You are buying into the 'Bama was down' coaching myth perpetuated by Bama fans.
They don't give us a pass for Bear beating Barfield.

The losses are one thing, but it's the fact we can't even score against any team with a good defense i.e. our three main rivals every year.
Posted on 10/9/17 at 4:45 pm to RandySavage
We beat LSU 41-7 in 14. I’m still very thankful for that.

My theory is the recruiting dip Chizik's last year. The lack of lineman killed us in '15 and '16. We are just now recovering. Add that to Ellis Johnson being the worst defensive coach I have ever seen, and you get some terrible results.

I agree there has been issues. Every program also can say that other than Bama. But Gus has done some huge things at Auburn that not many other programs have done
Posted on 10/9/17 at 4:54 pm to LanierSpots
That's the frustrating thing. Gus shows flashes of the ability to be a truly good HC. Gus also shows more than his fair share of decisions that make you question why he is even a major college football coach.
