i have been melting since the day Mr. Wizard was hired because i knew that it would deteriorate to where it is now. He is not well thought of in the state of Arkansas for a reason, and he had no background in college football....disaster in the making and all it took was time for this to show. gerry faust part 2
This is going to be twice now that we make a hire that conjures mixed reactions from fans. In both cases, it appeared JJ would be able to say 'I told you so' (after Chizik's NC, and Gus's 2013 turnaround). But it didn't take long for either coach to show their true colors.
A coaches career can be like a football game where the beginning (first quarter) is all emotion. This is when even mediocre teams can hang with the best. With Gus, we've moved beyond the first quarter per say. We're now into the meat of the game with him. Everything has calmed down and we're seeing how he is as a coach in the second and third quarters, and unfortunately it's rearing its ugly head. Teams begin to pull away at this point and fundamental flaws and differences become apparent. The fourth quarter is all about emotion as well. If the game is neck and neck going into the fourth, anything can happen. If it's a blowout, you become subservient and just look forward to it all being over.

Yes, what you're talking about with women's basketball is true.

Not sure, but we voted in Ross to build us a wall.
Clearly he hasn't done that

Was wondering what you were doing, because you clearly weren't moderating this board.

Hey ohhh
but for real, I'm just giving Ross a hard time. Whether we keep these threads/posters up or ban them doesn't matter to me.

Heard these ugly rumors too, but it has been a little while with no action so I was/am hoping it was only smoke.

We either need to decide we will be bullied, or become a bully. And most Auburn folks don't want to be that kind of program.
Many of us have been saying this for 20 years.

This is like a corporate meeting talking about the importance of synergy. It's a bunch of bullshite buzzword talk with no substance

We have talked about a select group of individuals who hold the majority of control over decisions made within the athletics department—the "Good Ol Boy" group (GOB). I've only closely followed Auburn athletics since 2003, so I'm not completely aware of the GOB's history within Auburn athletics. Can anyone with a longer knowledge inform me on how long the GOB's have been influential?
A lot longer than 2003. 2003 was around the time when Tubs got Jetgated and was probably the most public demonstration of the GOB's influence. Tubs also got YellaFella'd when Jimmy Rane came down onto the sideline DURING a game and chewed Tubs out. It was the most amazing (and sickening) thing I've ever seen at a CFB program. Bobby Lowder was responsible for Jetgate and he was forced off the BoT. Jimmy Rane I haven't seen around in years.
Since Jetgate, things haven't been as bad, but their influence is still there.
AU has had a hard time hiring a coach and giving him full control. The last coach with real power was Pat Dye (he was AD and HFC at the same time). Dye himself is now one of the GOB's. However, I don't know how powerful Dye is since he made it clear he wanted Kirby hired over Gus. Obviously he didn't get his wish.
Some of us have been saying for years that we need a dictator as HC, but the PTB at AU just don't want to give up their control.

I have seen him post this on 3 different AU boards. Must like to read his typing.

He is saying that AU needs to bend some rules and develop a "win at all costs, no matter how unethical" attitude like that other program on the west side of the state. And I agree with him.
