As "freshmany" as Hurts was, he was still a major playmaking factor. If he has made any progress whatsoever during the offseason, we could be absolutely dominant in 2017 and 2018.

The defense worries me more than Hurts. Our secondary cost us a lot of unnecessary big plays. They look like they're thinking too much and played too tense and perfection-driven, rather than just covering a guy and looking for the ball. I reckon this will improve this year since the group is more experienced.

Ryan Anderson and Tim Williams had pressure GALORE. Those guys have tons of potential to be stars in the NFL. We may or may not miss them and Allen for this reloading season.

The defense was fine there was a couple of issues that game.

1. They had at least 2 tds on pick plays.

2. We didn't slow the game down. Def was great until 60+ plus plays from the offense.

3. Deshawn Watson was for real. He on par with cam Newton and Tebow. The way you beat someone like that is to focus on keeping the ball out of his hands. We should have game planed for time of possession and focus on running the ball.

4. Internal struggles with lane kiffin and putting stark in control of the offense hurt us as well.

You just can't keep giving the ball back to a very good offense. The defense forced 2 turnovers on Clemson's side of the field and the offense managed 3 points for it.

Yea, our defense played just fine against Clemson for 3 quarters. They wore the frick out the last 2-3 series in the 4th because they were on the field nonstop the 2nd half.

That loss was squarely on the offense. Clemson only had like 14 points entering the 4th quarter. Our defense just ran out of gas when the offense couldn't move the chains or run the clock. Hoping Daboll will get that fixed. We have to be able to control a game and the clock.

Losing Kiffin (mentally checking out) and being gone altogether had to impact the offense.

It also didn't help matters that Clemson's offense didn't commit one (1) penalty in 99 plays.

Not one hold against one of the best defenses in the nation... the entire night.

We had the winning recipe, but Sark changed it when he Bo got hurt. We ran the ball like 5 times after Bo got hurt.

Which is ridiculous considering Harris was the 1000 yard rusher.

After Bo got hurt, we handed the ball off 4 times:

Harris 13 yards
Jacobs 3 yards
Harris 3 yards
Harris 5 yards

Hurts had some rushes in there, but I don't know if any of them were designed.

There was a screen pass to Harris that would have gotten at least a 1st down. Unfortunately, Howard caught it instead.

That was what was happening until Bo got hurt. Clemson could not stop him. But they had no problem with Harris and Jacobs.

I'm not going to act like an LSU fan but that really is remarkable. We had the best DL in the country the last two years and the lack of holding called on opposing OLs is mind-boggling. Makes no sense.

I posted before the Clemson game that if UA scored 28 points on 4 long, time consuming drives, then we win the game. We had to keep Watson off the field and overwhelming win the TOP battle. In the middle of the second half with the lead, we were snapping the ball with 15+ seconds to go on the play clock.

Our offense was talented all year and produced a lot of points & stats. However, I hope Daboll makes us a little more efficient and disciplined on that side of the ball. Of course I really don't know what to expect from Daboll.
