That looks really cool. The building I work in has that theme going, bringing the outside inside so to speak. It's a nice change.
It reminds me a little of the first Opryland Hotel now being inside the current complex.

Is it supposed to be like an atrium or something?
Pretty good idea for how to expand, keep the good part of that building frontage intact without being saddled by how aged the rest of it looks.

I think construction has been going non-stop on campus for about 20 years now.

By the end of 2018 the Gavin Research Lab on Magnolia will have had its renovation completed.
I'm not sure when the "Engineering Student Achievement Center" is slated for completion, but that building could potentially be neat. Lame name though.

I really like them keeping the original entrance like that. Gives it a very unique look.

There wasn't construction going on like this when I was a student, at least not on the engineering end of campus. The school seemingly barely had enough money to keep the lights on. No new buildings anywhere else on the main campus that I can recall during my 4 years. It all started to pick up steam around 2000 after I left.
They renovated the Honors Dorms when I was there, but no new buildings that I remember. Old CDV was there slowly falling apart.

The Brown-Kopel Engineering Student Achievement Center project will construct a three-story building consisting of classrooms, student study spaces, maker space, a wind-tunnel laboratory, meeting and departmental spaces for academic advising, tutoring, professional development and industrial relations. The Student Achievement Center will connect to the Gavin Engineering Research Laboratory building with a single story courtyard structure at the ground and first floors. This below-grade courtyard space will be "shelled out" and used for future College of Engineering laboratory and shop space expansion.
