I keep seeing State fans predict they will beat LSU this year in an upset.

Well, then I guess you answered your own question. Apparently, they do think they can win.

quote:

Since 2000, LSU is 16-1 against you. Do Mississippi State fans honestly think this is a real expectation?

So, you're going by past history here, but...

quote:

Just by talent alone on LSU's side, this game won't be competitive.

Somehow unaware that the last three games have been very close, with two of them, including a State win, in Tiger Stadium.

LSU should be favored, but it would not be the upset of the year if MSU won at home. They have a decent chance.

This series was pretty close to being even up until around 1992. I don't know what deal LSU made with the devil or what voodoo they took part in, but it's like we've just fallen apart every time we got on the field to play them. even during the worst football years in LSU history, the 90s, they couldn't manage to get 45k people in that monster stadium, but they still humiliated us.

I'm confident LSU's season ends in Starkville. Look on the bright side, it will make the inevitable loss to Bama hurt less.

We can, but naturally, it won't be easy. We have the better qb and our defense is looking pretty salty so far. First time in a while. Mullen has the best DC he's had since he's been here. We will have to execute on offense and get pretty creative, while not being so conservative. Home crowd will help us.

Lost in the names on the front of the jersey is the fact that we only lost by 3 in BR last year with a team that went 5-7, that included a QB who didn't know WTF he was doing at that point, the worst DC in our schools history, and a completely crippled defensive secondary.

We also held Guice to under 4 yards per carry.

We lost very little, got a huge infusion of secondary talent from JUCO, and swapped our crap DC for a stud, while LSU picked up an Ogre. Game is at home this year, and is just the third game of the year, so LSU might not have all of the offensive kinks worked out. This is a thing that could definitely happen.

State is actually 2-23 against lsu in the past 25 years. It's that bad. Really only beat lsu 1 time bc the refs blew a horrible td call and gave them a game in starkville after we had stopped them on 4th and goal...they didn't have replay so we got fricked.

I'm not overlooking state this year. They will be much improved. Love their D.C. And that qb can be special once he becomes a more efficient passer.

There's really only one fanbase in sec right now who can talk shiiat. Outside of Bama I don't see any teams fanbase that should be overly confident that they will steamroll everyone else in the west. I could see Lsu winning or losing to state arky auburn.. Bama I just hope we keep it close and have a shot late. A&m I'm not sure on. Ole miss is a gimmie.

LSU can definitely lose to State.

In fact, it's one of the three losses I have projected for the Tigers (along with Florida and Alabama).

Everyone is just penciling in LSU to start 5-0. I think State can sneak up on LSU. They have a quarterback who is tough to defend, and it will be LSU's first true road game of the season. And we have quite a few inexperienced players.

I'm not sure what games that happened almost 20 years ago mean to this year's but okay.

Is it likely? No, but the have a guy who makes big places taking snaps. Mullen is a decent coach and I'd take him before O so they probably have a edge their. Now it's just a matter of overcoming the tangent difference.

They're from Bumfrick, Mississippi out in the boonies, of course they "really think" they can beat LSU. Hell, they probably think they can beat the New England Patriots too.

I mean Appalachian state beat Michigan a few years ago and state did the same to us. So don't underestimate the opponent, I guess

What a terrible thread. Bama fans could make this thread to several sets of fans here and be right a large majority of the time but it takes a real jerk to look down on other programs like that. It's the SEC bro, none of us are invincible.
