I just finished reading the Saban biography by Monte Burke. Alabama will never have a kicking game under Saban unless we luck into a walkon. It was a recurring them in the book.

As huge as the kicking game is, i will take that scenario when Saban is elite at basically everything else.

Raekwon is the brute squad, Ridley deserved anything he got if he went for the knees.

They sure were moving awfully slow.

Jeremy Shelley had an 80% career success rate, making 44 of 55 attempts.

R Harrison got involved after the shot. Sounds like a standard we are ready to hit people other than our own team thing.

Anyone else think our OLB play may be better this year? There are some really athletic guys out there.
Anyone know what the Sam and Jack depth chart is looking like?

It doesn't take much to get Harrison involved. After he leaves Bama, I'm prepared for him to stay in trouble. The rant will have a field day

He gets pretty emotional, he did pretty good last year after the USC thing.

It takes plenty of energy to calm him down. The team had plenty of alphas last yr to keep him in check. He will confuse leadership with aggressive behavior this yr. He is just wired that way, and only CNS will be able to keep him focused because he is not going to listen to his teammates when he gets to that emotional state. It is unfair for his teammates to carry that burden, and focus on their jobs as well.

Fair statement hopefully he can control everything.

More athletic maybe, but how well rounded a player Ryan Anderson became is gonna be missed.
Could hold the point, tackle, rush the passer, and even drop into zone when he had to(that dirty pick 6).
He was the textbook 34 OLB...

Gotdammit, it's not that hard to find a serviceable kicker. There's a 120 or so D1 teams and God knows how many FCS teams and 80% of them come up with a kicker that is solid inside of 40. Hell, I'm down with the open tryouts too. Just have a kicking day, make it in a couple of weeks and advertise it campus-wide and let the games begin. There's somebody out there somewhere who is a decent kicker who can help us out and maybe he/she gets a ring out of it. Hell yeah, I'm including the ladies. They've got to be better than those fricktards we've got down there trying to do it.
And Saban needs to quit taking advice from these kicking gurus at the kicking camps. They've sold us a pig in a poke every time except for JK Scott. All the consultants and off-the-field guys we have down there, we can't hire someone that knows their arse from a hole in the ground about kicking? Let them scout around the state and find us a damn kicker, offer him/her preferred walk-on status, and a possible scholarship if one comes open.

Bama needs to hire a actual special team coach.

Unfortunately, that is true. It is also not relevant to my post. I was replying to a post that said

Shelley was a Saban recruit, so the assertion that Bama will never have a "kicking game", which I took to mean a well above average place kicker is demonstrably untrue because they've already had one.
As far as that goes, in 2014 (the latest year a quick google returned for me), the NCAA average success rate for FG attempts was 72%. Under Saban, Bama's starting kickers have matched or exceeded that number in 6 of his 10 seasons and came within 1.5% or less of it twice more. Bama kickers have failed to make 70% or more of their attempts only twice in 10 years (Tiffin in 2008 @69% and Griff in 2014 @63%).
My point is that Bama hasn't had elite kickers, but they're usually better than average. You can say the same thing about our QBs and it has worked out prett well.
There's no reason to melt. I'm confident Bama will be fine.
