Again, you don't know shite.
His leash was short because he lost too many heartbreaking games. And everyone that was around the program his last partial year will tell you that he lost the team that year.
You come over here because you are obcessed. You are sick and you need help. You have upteen alters and doing all you can to make A&M look bad controls your life. At this point all you are doing is making the fan base of the University of Texas look bad. We don't play you and we won't in the foreseeable future. The success or failure of either school has no effect on the other. You need to get a grip and take your meds.
And we all know who you are.

I bet you felt really stupid singing "saw varsity's horns off" a thousand times after getting beat 59-0 in Tuscaloosa.

great post.. more people should know about Bellard.
Houston donors pushed Bellard over the edge. I'm not sure he was truly HC material, but he took a dead program and pumped some serious life into it.

Later he had a good run at State in the early 80's w/Bob Tyler's recruits and then started sliding down by 1985 after which he stepped down as State's coach.
I always liked him. Down to earth and a good coach on the field. His Recruiting was a bit spotty though he was probably not as bad as everyone one thought he was in that area.
He was the first of the A&M pipeline to State followed by Sherrill and more recently Vic Schaefer.

The Houston donors are responsible for Sherman and Sumlin.

quote:Stupid post. They knew all that when they hired him.
They never could handle that he helped invent the Wishbone at Texas as an assistant coach and that he played football for D.X. Bible at Texas for one year.

A lot based on rumor here:
Bellard who's team started the '78 season 4-0 and ranked in the top ten, had lost 2 in a row and didn't look good in the process. He went to see the University President at the time, Dr Jarvis Miller to get a "vote of confidence". When he didn't get it, he quit.
There were also some rumors of asst coaches undermining him with the Big Money Ags and the administration One was Bellard's O.C. Tom Wilson, who replaced Bellard and underwhelmed magnificently.
Ballard definitely put a lot of pressure on himself....but this was another example of powerful alumni screwing things up.
