I can understand why you put LJ at QB but I also can understand the arguments against him. As a barner, I'm a bit surprised Braden Smith isn't at OG. Granted I don't pay that much attention to OL during the season.

You can have an argument for Darnold at QB and Guice at RB.

Personal preference would have me take Darnold and Guice, but Barkley and Jackson are pretty good.

Lamar Jackson did not impress me at all in our bowl game vs louisville last season. Aranda had him bottled up the entire game and he was running around like a chicken with his head cut off. He didn't look comfortable at all. shite, idk how he even wok the heisman trophy. His production will fall off a bit this year now that LSU and aranda pretty much gave the blueprint to completely shut him down. He's vastly overrated.

@ TTsTowel

How does Ed Oliver compare to D Payne? Never seen him play.

Serious question, no troll.

Good chance he'll play OT this year.

nfldraftscout.com has him rated as the #3 OT in this class

Ed Oliver, true freshmen, 12 games:
65 tackles (46 solo, 19 assists), 22.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks

DaRon Payne, SO, 15 games:
36 tackles (12 solo, 24 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks

Payne is no comparison for Oliver, and that's putting it lightly.

Oliver is already considered possibly the best player in CFB, and without a doubt top 5.... Payne, not so much.

When the 2019 draft comes around, Oliver will get serious consideration for #1 overall pick.
Payne is the #3 DT prospect among juniors at this point.

Yes, really.
Barkley is universally considered a top 10 pick in virtually every 2018 mock draft to date. As high as #2 overall by some.

Who would you possibly put ahead of Barkley?

ETA:

He's a freak of nature. Power cleans over 400 pounds

He's the complete package too. Speed, power, moves, and one of the best pass catching RBs

1900 yards from scrimmage and 22 total TDs last year

There is no way Lamar jackson is the best QB in the country

Look man, hes good. Best back in the country? No. Guice, Pettway, fricking scarborough. Any 4-5 SEC backs. I mean there are a shitload of backs around the world better

That's just stupid. Please get out of here with that "SEC SEC SEC" nonsense. You're invalidating yourself.
Go back and look at the gifs I posted.

Guice is the only back in the country in the same conversation as Barkley right now, but he has a lot of catching up to do and is going to have to prove it on the field this year.

I'm an Auburn fan, and Pettway is not close to Barkley. Scarbrough? please, he's a joke. An overrated joke, don't but into that BS hype just because he plays for Bama.

I guess you think you're smarter than people who analyze football every single day for a living and have Barkley as one of the top 5 players of any position in all of CFB, and possibly the #2 overall draft pick?

Obviously he's not a good pro prospect, but as far as college QBs go it's pretty much impossible to make a legitimate argument for anybody else right now.

Remember, this is about college players, not pro prospects.

There's a few flaws in this line of reasoning. Oliver plays in the American conference - a lot of recruits at Alabama would have absurd numbers there.

Also, Payne played rotational last year. His snap count is likely much lower than Oliver's.

When the 2017 draft was coming up, several people said Payne would have been the first DT taken if he was eligible and is already creating buzz for next year.

LINK

But eh, doesn't mean Oliver isn't a great player. Payne's level of competition, however, is astronomically better than Ed's.

Guice -
183 Rushing Attempts
1387 Yards
15 Touchdowns

Barkley -
272 Rushing Attempts
1495 Yards
18 Touchdowns

Hmm
Almost 100 more Attempts and only 100 more yards.

Guice plays against SEC teams, which arguably as a conference, has the best defenses in the country.

Barkleys best running performances were against:

Kent State - #76 Rushing Defense
Maryland #99 Rushing Defense
Purdue - #115 Rushing Defense
Iowa - #45 Rushing Defense
Rutgers - #126 Rushing Defense
USC - #31 Rushing Defense

Guices Best Rushing Performances:

JVST - FCS
Louisville - #12 Rushing Defense
Florida - #38 Rushing Defense
Southern Miss - #46 Rushing Defense
Mizzou - #112 Rushing Defense
Texas A&M - #80 Rushing Defense
Arkansas - #94 Rushing Defense

Sharing the backfield for over half the season with a top 5 draft pick, and having a much better OL didn't help at all I'm sure

They're close. But the scouts and experts still have Barkley higher right now. Maybe that could change this season. But you're not better at their job than they are.

Leonard Fournette was vastly overrated in college and Alabama shut him down 3 straight years. They completely bottled him up. They created the blueprint. I don't even know how he was a top 10 pick in the NFL Draft.

Wait, maybe because... It's incredibly stupid to judge someone off one game when your supporting cast sucks.

I bet you said the same about players like LeVeon Bell, Jamaal Charles, Zeke Elliot, Dalvin Cook, etc.

Playing in the SEC doesn't automatically qualify you as being better than a player in another conference.
