Been a while since I've seen such a factual fail.

Nick Saban majored in Chemistry at Alabama.

Mike Shula played for Alabama
At the time of the writing of the book (2008), Shula was gone.
After Fulmer was fired, it was somewhat of an end of an era of coaches who played for and graduated from the schools they coached.
(Sorry I didn't make that clear in the OP)

Charley McClendon played for Bear Bryant at Kentucky, Curley Hallman played at Texas A&M for Gene Stallings

He never even played. He quit before the season started. I don't know if he ever even took a class at LSU. He's a Northwestern St guy.

So with the exception of Mike Shula, Kirby Smart, Barry Odom and Ed Orgeron the OP's post is correct. Good job.

Doesnt matter. If you attend a school, even for one semester, you are an alum and it is your alma mater. You are just not considered a graduate.

Joker Phillips was an alum of UK, and he was fired from there too.

I feel like there was an entire thread about this maybe last year. I used to assume that you had to graduate as well, but was proven wrong.

Fanbases wanting a "family" guy to take over the coaching job is bad medicine.
Not true. Kim Anderson was a fantastic hiring.

LOL and all the while not really even making it clear what his original point even was.

Maybe he meant last one to get fired from his Alma Mater?
I think he meant the last one to coach his alma mater except for Alabama, UGA or Missouri.
Or maybe the last one that had a T in its name. Or Orange on its uniform. The guy has obviously done his research.

The only thing clear about OP is he is a mental midget who owns Clay Travis's book

quote:That was because everyone in the conference had to follow the same rules and the talent was more balanced in those days. Now the rules are lopsided in favor of a certain school and the rest of the conference is forced to cycle through coaches to find one that can outcoach their coach on the field. But the talent gap is too big and the NCAA jumps schools that beat them. Until the charade is stopped the conference will never have stable coaches like before.
Maybe why SEC coaching sucks lately.

Auburn has had 26 head football coaches. Only 3 of those 26 were alums.
M.S. Harvey (1902)
Boozer Pitts (1923-24, 1927)
Shug Jordan (1951-75)
