No, I'd rather not get drunk all the time when I am old and act like I know what is best for a former employer just because I used to work there.

Without it Auburn would have been another UAB

We were already in the SEC, already had won a Natty (1913, not officially claimed by AU), would go on to win a poll era NC before bama in 57, and you think we needed you guys? We already had nice rivalries with UGA and Tech, we didn't need you.

Yeah, something about Bama going 4-1 in the last 5 years (7-3 in the last decade) has a way of easing some of that vitriol.

We saw it during the TT "fear the thumb" campaign.

No doubt. My dad still mentions Coach Bryant's 9 game streak ('73-'81) on Auburn. He says close to the end of Bama's run finding an AU fan in a t-shirt/cap out in public was like finding a needle in a haystack.

That is why the move makes sense to the AU PTB.

We know Pat Dye is a large part of the PTB at Auburn. So have they drummed up enough sway in conference to get the votes to push y'all East?

If not, then this is nothing more than the annual bullshite discussions that saturate every board in the off season.

It's never gotten much better or worse, judging by some Auburn fans I know. They hate Alabama with a passion, win/lose/draw, and honestly, I don't like Auburn any more than they do Alabama. Too much bullshite for too long.

I remember during the TT run, it was even hard to find anyone in Wal-Mart with Bama gear on.

I don't do Wal-Mart, but I'm sure you were hard pressed to find a Gump sporting their gear back then.

The NCAA did a job on Alabama football, resulting in the worst stint in program history. Today, when I think about Bama losing only a dozen SEC games in a decade, it's very satisfying to the soul.

Something I think the Awbs either are forgetting or don't want to admit is a ton of their season ticket sales are Bama fans buying for the Iron Bowl. It was well known that Auburn wasn't selling all their tickets until the game went on campus.

Dye wanted us in the East back in 1992. This isn't Saban related.

Bama v UT should be the cross-divisional permanent game on Bamas schedule once Auburn moves to the east. Being associated with lowly Bama is holding Auburn back too much

The cousins v. the hillbillies in orange just has a better ring to it.

It's interesting to note that Auburn's best runs in my lifetime were when Pat Dye coached there, before he was forced out for cheating and the resulting ncaa probation, and the Tubberville years, when Alabama was recovering (with Shula) from its own ncaa probation precipitated by Auburn paying Gene Jelks to lie (he admitted so later) to the ncaa about being paid at Alabama. You will note I didn't say that Alabama was busted because of the Gene Jelks lies, but the investigation was precipitated by that. UA was initially busted because Antonio Langham signed a napkin for an agent in the celebratory aftermath of the national championship game vs Miami. Granted, if Gene Stallings hadn't cursed and kicked the ncaa investigator out of his office, it wouldn't have been a major deal. In any event, it led in a meandering and circuitous way to one St. Nick Saban, so alls well that ends well. Still, on a level playing field, Auburn has never, in my lifetime, been able to competitively rival Alabama.

Then why, 25 yrs later does he think Alabama dictates what Auburn does?
