I really think this season could be better then we all think. We have the pieces in place to be really good. Obviously it depends on how much the players and coaches develop. The competition that Kirby has established on the team seem to be making players better. Wynn, Eason, Godwin, Wims, are the more notables ones. We have heard Kirby praise many of the players this spring for their effort and attitude. Not to mention a lot of really good freshman aren't even on campus yet to push the players even harder. This team just has a different feel to it this spring, a feeling like the are ready to break out.

Isn't that the case every pre-season?

Players are showing up early this time. Never seen this type of dedication. Finally have the cancers out of the locker room and seniors that will lead.
Which other ones am I missing?

The new strength and conditioning team is having a huge impact. Players are saying that every workout is harder than anything they've ever done before. Everyone has gained 20 lbs of lean weight and cut their 40 times by 0.5 secs.

Offensive Coordinator making a bunch of "tweaks" to the gameplans this year, expecting huge things

Our guys are finally taking some good steroid cycles based on some solid YouTUbe advice. We finally are gonna be bigger, faster, and bigger than the other teams. Plus, Smart won't none of them be on drugs unless they are steroids or opioids. We are gonna go all the way!!!!

No way I am buying into any pre-season hype this year.
I just refuse to let myself do it.
Maybe I am a defeated man, but Im going to be realistically optimistic this preseason. I think 9-3 is likely as well

No it doesn't. It's the same thing every year with every team, pro and college. Hope springs eternal in the offseason.
"This guy looks like he's been hitting the weight room hard"
"So and so is catching everything at practice"
"Player X is emerging as a real leader"
I don't know how you get optimistic rooting for Georgia and Atlanta teams (assuming you do). It's better just to assume the worst and then be pleasantly surprised. Sad, but true.

Get us to November with more than 6 passes to Nauta/TEs and I'll be cautiously optimistic.

To quote Drew Magary:
"No sport is more dependent upon self-delusion than college football, mostly because the national title is usually won by one of roughly 10 schools. The other programs in Division I are helpless. . . You practically have to be insane to be a college football fan. Anyone who takes reality at face value would never bother with it. The younger a sport's participants, the more insane the expectations are. Since young athletes have little in the way of a track record, you can project all kinds of unreasonable future accomplishments for them. Every year, every coach on every team thinks to himself, "By golly, this team has a chance to be special." And they NEVER are."

In fairness, we have *some* chance. Miss State and/or Vandy preseason happy talk has little to no chance to bear fruit.
