So... A Taco Bell that serves booze.

It's opening on Dickson St tomorrow.
It's the 5th such location in the country, the others being in San Francisco, Chicago, Austin and Las Vegas.
Go in for your "drunk food", and wind up drunker? This sounds dangerous. Luckily I lost the ability to digest Taco Bell in the early 2000s.

Del Taco is so much better.
I prefer food truck tacos over all of them, but Del Taco is miles better than Taco Bell.

I have no earthly idea why Fayetteville people are nutting themselves over this

FIFY.
And I don't care to drink alcohol at Toxic Hell. That defeats the purpose.

I don't think people are "nutting themselves" over it.
Most of the people I know are kind of mixed about chains going in on Dickson. On one hand, they want to keep Fayetteville Funky and feel that chains are decidedly unfunky. In addition, the fact that chains seem to be the only new businesses that are able to afford to stay on Dickson due to high rent, and that concerns people that it's no longer a place where local businesses can exist. That being said, it's also a sign of a thriving entertainment district if these national chains are wanting to locate distinct "pilot" concepts here (the "unique" Waffle House and now the Taco Bell Cantina).

Nobody is necessarily excited about it. At least nobody over 25. It's just strange, in that it is a brand new concept coming here in the first roll-out, and that it is a chain on Dickson.
I'd like to go back in time and bring back Common Grounds. Then, go back in time and make it Emerald Coast again.

I saw a shite load of Facebook pictures of people at it last night
Never saw anyone do that for Qdoba or Waffle House or even Chipotle

Can you even get beer at any of those places? You can get hard liquor drinks at the new Taco Bell.
That's the distinguishing factor, that and the fact that it is weird as hell to consider that Taco Bell is on Dickson Street. It sounds like a joke when you first hear it. The others you listed are fast-casual. Taco Bell is nothing but fast food. First one of those on Dickson.

Also, Fortune.com and many other sites did stories on the Las Vegas one which only opened in November.
It isn't just here that it is noteworthy.

Hell, in Vegas it made the nightly news:
Las Vegas TBC opening on strip

Yes

You can also get liquor at the adjacent 50 properties to the east and west. Not a big deal

So that would be a no

Ah yes, add alcohol, because my bowels need the extra "oomph" not provided by Taco Bell's typical menu ;p

Evidently the TB booze deal is that they have alcoholic "slushy" machines called "Twisted Freezes."
Kind of a goofy novelty that people seem to be posting a lot about.
Austin also wrote up a big article on it when theirs opened:

Torchy's or Fuego is the gold standard for tacos.
