There's currently a thread on VolQuest where a member asked the mods what they were hearing after the recent decomittment by Max Wray from UGA.
Here's basically a summarized portion of the convo:
247 Profile
OP: Does Wray to bama have legs, or is it more of a knee jerk reaction to his visiting there?
Mod - Austin Price: I think he likes Bama a lot. He is scheduled to visit TN later in the month once practice begins. Anything could change but I think TN LSU and Texas are all options with Bama. Not sure he has a ton of interest in Clemson even with him visiting there today.
Wrays Father's response: Your right Austin, Clemson was a great visit, it's just hard to get around the driving distance and Oregon is making a good attempt, but same problem there. UGA stubbed their toe by suggesting a move inside to my wife when I wasn't there. That ain't happening. Max is almost 6'7" barefoot now and 287lb and has tremendous arm length. He is a tackle. Texas is an option, but I expect it to be a 3 way fight between Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee. Alabama is obviously the safest choice, and provides Max with the best competition, which he thrives on, and the coaching stability for long term success. I like the LSU situation as well. They have some great people in place. Having said that Butch Is making a big effort and has impressed me with his humility and willingness to change. I'm a big Walt Wells fan, there is something about him I just really like. He is a fiery competitor... Max is an early enrollee so we are moving through this process quickly.
Insightful and transparent on his dad's part. You don't see posts like that very often on a team board.. Max also has a younger brother who will be highly rated and regarded in the 2020 class.
I posted this on our board a few days before Wray decomitted from UGA.
To me, despite him liking LSU and Texas, this feels like a Bama vs Tennessee battle. UT is thought to be the favorite for his younger brother so that may help, but both have already went public and said that although they would love to play together it isn't a must.

It sounds like the Vols are making a hard push to get back involved for UGA OL committ Max Wray and just hosted his parents and younger brother (Stayed with Cade Mays family for the trip) a few weekends ago on one of the recruiting weekends that we just had. His younger brother is a 2019 or 2020 guy who will be highly rated and really likes UT. The Wray brothers recruitment sounds like it could get interesting going forward.

LSU's GM Austin Thomas is from his home town and has been on him a ton as of late. Many insiders think that LSU is a whole lot bigger player than others think.

Pittman at uga recruited and coached 6'10 skipper for 10 years. If he thinks he needs to be inside, he needs to be inside. I hate families like this

So UGA "suggests" he move inside and that triggers a decommit? Jesus, bit of an overreaction...
Btw, Tyler Catalina was 6'6 290+ for us at LT last year and was awful. Size and arm length mean nothing at tackle if you don't also have lateral quickness and an ability to get low. I'll tak Pittmans read over the dads perception of his sons ability any day

I hope that is not the reason he decommitted. Otherwise whoever gets him will have a high maintenance dad on their hands.

Distance is obviously going to be a major factor in the families decision.
Knoxville is a 3 hr drive
Tuscaloosa is a 3 hr drive
Baton Rouge is a 8 hr drive.
IMO, The way the 2018 class is playing out, I don't think LSU grabs a single highly regarded player in Tennessee this year. Max Wray appears to be the only kid that's rated a 90 4* or higher in the 2018 class that isn't a lean towards UT.

Didn't we do this last year? Don't put that emotional trauma on yourself

Do what last year? You took a kid that moved to TN from LA and flipped the kid from Oklahoma.
LSU won't take a single player rated 90 or above out of Tennessee that UT wants in the 2018 class. Including Max Wray

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to today's sports wrapped up in one quote. As a person who coaches ball and has for the last 5 years you meet some of the absolute worst parents and this guy isn't doing his kid any favors. Even if that's the reason...he should never say that publicly. Douche

This is from the same family who said "committed means committed - we aren't even talking to coaches from other schools".
Whatever. If he wants to get back in with UGA I would love to have him, but if this is going to be a battle to recruit the kid's father I would rather not bother with the drama.

I think it is more that UGA just signed 2 book end tackles this year along with a juco.
and this:
referring to Bama's coaching situation is laughable. They have had to replace more coaches over the past few years then anyone. Hell they lost Cristobal this year.
I mean lord Saban will be there for however, but his position coach is likely to change2-3 times.

I would agree, but then how do you explain Alabama somehow being in the picture? They signed more talent on OL than we did.

Once your team starts gaining some L's they may think twice about going there.

Brent Key is entering his second season as OL coach at Alabama. The OL coach has changed on average every 3-4 years. That's probably average in major college football.

Last 3 years:
LSU: 25 wins
UT: 25 wins
LSU fans have such a weird grasp on reality

1.) Tennessee has played more games than LSU past 3 years due to cancellations.
2.) Why stop at 3 years? Is it because that is the only way it fits your demographic?
Number of losses past 3 years:
Tennessee - 14
LSU - 11
