Knoxville and Gainesville love some rapin, though

You have to take the size of each city into consideration. Baton Rouge and Knoxville are significantly larger than Oxford, Starkville, Auburn, etc.

You mean the the higher populated cities are higher?
Nooo

Baton Rouge and Knoxville bigger then Nashville?

People don't understand that Baton Rouge isn't just a college town. It's a major city with a large ghetto

Not sure. Haven't looked it up. I just named the two cities at the top because I know Knoxville is huge compared to the 3 I named that were smaller towns.

Knoxville has the 2nd largest metro population in the SEC, shocking it would also have the 2nd most crimes.

Hence the reason to normalize the data per 100,000 residents

I knew Knoxville was pretty big, but really didn't know population numbers.

The city of Knoxville is campus and a lot of very bad areas. There are some very affluent areas within city limits but the metro area (pop. 880,000) stats would probably be a more accurate representation.

It's still not really comparing apples to apples. Baton Rouge, for example, is a completely different place than Oxford or Auburn, and I'm not just talking about where they are located on a map either

These are per 100k statistics?

Yep. It's a place where more people per 100,000 get murdered.
