Is Mike Anderson worse for the program than John Pelphrey was?

Hear me out....Not speaking about current roster talent, etc.
I am talking about money. We all know Jeff Long is a money hungry SOB. I don't recall Pelphrey ever drawing this low of a turnout to games, especially league games. People didn't like Pelphrey, but the students, fans, suites were still more full than what they are now.
I feel like MA has completely deflated the program at this point. 1 NCAA trip in 6 years isn't good at all, but not having any asses in the seats is the worst killer of all. To me this shows that even though the majority of our fanbase hated John Pelphrey, they had more faith in his system than what they have in Mike Andersons system.
Would you agree?

no... they just weren't tuned in to total apathy yet. MA>Pel and it isn't even close.
Pel would have even less folks in the seats at this juncture. It is a time thing, the longer we go without actually winning anything, the more apathetic we become and the less seats are filled.

No, because Pelphrey just happened to come first. Pelphrey would be getting this same turn out with the same results atm. As you said earlier the roster is better and that means a whole lot more to me than the current crowds. When/if Mike is fired, there will be a new energy in the fan base and the crowds will return.

My boss gave me his tickets to next Saturday's game against Ole Miss.
I was happy at first, but now I'm wondering if he's trying to send me a message about my job performance...

No. Pelphrey sucked arse. Mike just sucks less.
Our expectations have been gradually lowered since Nolan so that they are lower now than when Pelphrey was hired.
I cut Bert some slack because the SEC west is murderers' row. But in basketball the SEC is a shite show and yet we're losing to inferior teams.
A decent Xs and Os coach would easily make the tournament with the players we have.

I agree only to the extent that it will be much harder to fire Mike than Pel.

Nah, I don't know about this year's attendance, but Pelphrey's last season was the lowest attended season in Bud Walton's history. As of now I believe our average attendance is somewhere around 13-14k, which is poor by our historical standards but not worse than where Pelphrey was taking us. Mike's got some good recruits coming in which is 70% of what makes your team good in current college basketball.

This was my answer as well. Heath, followed by Pel, followed by MA is why the stands are slowly emptying. We'll need a really good season followed by a recruiting class people can get excited about to completely rebuild the trust of the fans and thus attendance.
A new coach by itself will put some butts in the seats for at least half a season, especially if it's one the fanbase is excited about. In other words, the problem isnt systemic or lack of fandom as much as it is the results people are paying for.

Absurd OP.
Cmon Hawgeye, our program was entering Baylor level mode under Pelphrey.
McDonald knocked him the F out in practice, he was addicted to pain pills, gang bangs, HUGE suspensions.
Henry was a GD pimp for god's sake.
You're embarrassing yourself.

Not at all.
To me, all the factors of MA just drive into fans heads that maybe we can't get to the level we think we can.
Think about it...if we are giving up on our "native son" how low is the perception of the program from long to me fans, who wanted MA much sooner than when we actually got him.
Attendance, prior pleading for Mike, current results, current attendance.
That's what leads me to ponder these questions about the state of the program + fans when comparing to Pelphrey.

I'd simply chalk it up to more time passing since actual success.
Even the Portis season had a bunch of let downs. That team should have easily been a top 5 seed.

This.
And people are more quick to stay home because we've seen the same shite from the previous 2 coaches. Whatever good will MA earned with Portis and Qualls is gone now.
"What have you done for me lately?" Lately we've shite the bed.

Mike Anderson will never get us to where we want to go.
It sucks because I truly appreciate the passion he has for our University.
He never learned how to adjust his system. Times have changed and we are still stuck in the 90's.

Oh, I agree.
I guess my entire point was...this right now is more of a gut punch to the fanbase than what Pelphrey was. Being that Mike had been wanted by most Arkansas fans since he started at UAB years ago. The fanbase automatically thought we would be back to the 80's, 90's like under Nolan. He was our boy coming home. This would be his last job.
This is much tougher for fans to stomach than an outsider like Pel or Heath failing, in my opinion. Mike was the plea for hire at the end of both of their tenures, now the guy that was pleaded for is falling on his face. In turn, I think it has a larger impact on the fanbase because of that.
Just my opinion of course.

I don't think he's worse than pel.
What you're seeing is the difference between realistic expectation failure vs unrealistic hype deflation

Pelphrey recruited thugs, popped opiates 24/7, got his arse kicked by a player, destroyed our APR, etc, etc.
Mike is a great man and has set the future coach up with a good foundation/great current players/future recruits and zero APR problems.

This x100. It just hasn't worked out here for whatever reason.
Getting pretty sick of the people borderline personally attacking him.
His Elite 8 Mizzou team was fuggin' nasty. And so was the team he left Haith that was a #2 seed.
He was an EXCELLENT hire at the time, and a good way to energize the fan base. Again, really sucks and hurts my heart it hasn't worked out for him but acting like it was a bad idea to begin with is garbage and goes back to the old ignorant, racist undertones that have plagued us. Mostly comes from those that secretely still resent Nolan.
Yea, I just said it. And F no am I an SJW but they way people talk about him, you'd think he was the scum of the earth, ruining our program on purpose, which in hindsite is what Pelphrey nearly did.

You're remembering wrong. Pelphrey was setting records for low attendance. Mike hasn't done that yet.
