lol those natties that Bear Bryant won (when football was less competitive) didn't help bama.

How much do you think it will help if at some point Bama decides they want your head coach?

Well Gary, Clemson is certainly climbing the list since they beat Alabama for the national championship.

shite list.....FSU wasn't shite before Bobby Bowden took over....I lived in Florida in the 70's when Florida couldn't beat themselves in a scrimmage.....Miami?

If the list was for the best in the past 25 years then maybe....all time, bullshite.

Top 11?

In other words, UF failed to make the top 10.

Correct. Because beating Bama for a title = 3 titles instead of 1.

Hell, we only got like half of a title for beating Clempsun last season. Probably 25% of one had we repeated.

Auburn Just Gave Itself Three More National Championships

As of today, Auburn athletics' official website now claims three additional national titles, to go along with the two they actually won.

"The NCAA recognizes Auburn as National Champions in 2010, 1993, 1983, 1957 and 1913.

This is especially funny because the NCAA itself doesn't crown, select, or recognize national champions from Division IA/FBS."

Honestly it is stupid. By the same standards that Alabama used, we would have something like 7 or 8 is what i had read at one time. The website that is referenced in your link says that the NCAA record books show us with 5, Auburn only claims 2010 and 1957 though.

This is bullshite. If we used the standards y'all claimed we did we would claim 7 or 8 more.

Dabo will only go back there if he wants more money, or wants to get back home, or relationships at Clemson sour. it won't have to do with alabama having past titles.

That is what I read. Alabama didn't claim several of yours until the 80s, might have been when Notre Dame won a championship in the late 80s and tied them up or were one down to Alabama. The next year you had claimed several more.

Bama only has 1 title in the playoff era and that is only b/c Clemson had issues on special teams in that game, and our star cornerback couldn't play in 2nd half.

the other teams bama beat in title game were not very good. LSU and ND didn't even score a point.

it was dubious that bama got a 2nd shot at LSU that year. that sort of when the SEC bias theory solidified in the minds of so many people.

I love how they claim 1993 when they were on probation for cheating and banned from post season play.

like I said, I have never seen it anywhere that Auburn claims and the fans don't either. The website says that 93 is listed in the NCAA books, not that they claim it. Did you follow the links to their source?

You guys shouldn't be claiming 83 either. You lost at home to Texas. Miami was the champ that year.

Florida isn't greater than Penn State as an all time program by any stretch of the imagination whatsoever. Disagree? Make your case then. PS has far more wins and can make a case for more NCs. Florida wasn't shite as a football program before the 1990s.

Some of the traditional powers have fell on some tough times... the breaking up of the big 8 may have been the worst thing for Nebraska

While I agree that Penn State has far more history (some good - some not so much...) than the relative newcomers on the list:(UF, FSU and Miami, those 3 teams have individually achieved more in a shorter period of time.

Miami has 5 legitimate national titles while FSU and UF have 3 each. Penn State claims just 2.

FSU and Florida have 3 Heisman winners each while Miami has 2. Penn State owns just 1.

So Penn State has played more games and has a great winning percentage, but has little to show for it in terms of hardware.

Just my opinion. Its all subjective - I'm not sure exactly what formula, if any, was used to compile this list.

AU should absolutely claim 1983 and 2004 if they want with no issues. Miami beat Nebraska at home the claim a natty. They also got thrashed by 28 points by UF who AU beat. AU played the hardest schedule of the entire decade and got jumped by the #5 team who beat 6 less ranked teams. 2004 is a mythical national championship year in which we truly did not get to see or even know who the two best teams were. USC cheated and had to give up MNC, Auburn finished #2 so should claim it IMO.
No way AU should claim '93. Don't really care about '58 or the years from 100 years ago. AU should receive no ridicule for claiming 1957, 1983, 2004, 2010
