Neutral Site Games Impact on Bowl Games

When people talk about the diminished value of bowl games, I think they fail to mention a key factor.
Neutral site games week 1 make the bowl experience for the fans routine. As a Bama fan, I'm sure we will be playing in Atlanta and Dallas every few years now rather the team makes the SEC Title, Cotton, Peach Bowl or not.
I think the number of neutral site games is getting a little ridiculous. If you make the national title, you'll probably have played four neutral site games that year.

Neutral sites = more sponsorships = more money
It hasn't been for the fans in a while

You're right, but this is America so I will bitch and whine about whatever I please.
Also, there comes a breaking point. If CFB gets ruined for the fans, alternatives will emerge.
ETA: Not saying this is ruining CFB, but it is annoying that 1/4 of your games are played at a neutral site.

I watch on TV so doesn't matter to me where they play.

Biggest impacts on bowl attendance are:
HDTV s
50 bowl games
Odd start times. Do we expect LSU fans to go to a bowl game that starts at 10AM?

Possibly. But the real question is, do we expect them to stay the entire game?

Does not compute.

You need to become a fan of my school. We sat out Bowl Season this year and are getting a "stay at home card" from the NCAA for next year too. We can continue watching others on TV.
Problem solved

The big neutral site games do put a huge drain on travel enthusiasm for a fan base.
Particularly as the same teams go to the same locations all the time.

I don't see how watching Team A vs Team B in Detroit would dictate someone wanting to attend their teams bowl, or someone choosing to attend a game at their local bowl.

That would do it.
Prefacing by saying I would go to either one of the San Diego bowls depending on the game, and go to most of my schools bowl games, distance dictating.

Neutral site games mean I can buy alcohol. I support neutral site games.

Last years I would have agreed with you. Last year I had to sell a ticket to the NC game for face value on Stubhub. I just sold 2 today for 2x face value. The ones I'm sitting in are going for even more. I think us fans were sick of traveling so far last year (AU, SECCG, Dallas, and then Phoenix). This year AU was in T-town and the first PO game was in Atlanta. Now the last game in Tampa is in driving distance for both fan bases or 1 hop distance on a plane. Its a lot easier this year so ticket prices are soaring back to normal for a game of this magnitude.

Too much travel is one reason why I don't see the playoffs going to 8 any time soon. The only realistic way to do it would be to eliminate conference championship games and play the first round on campus, and I just don't see that happening.

But it isn't being ruined for the TV watching fans. There's a huge difference.

I do to. It's one of the few things I'll give the Vols kudos for.

Yep, we spend all this money to build on campus cathedrals to college football then end up playing in Jerry World
Plus if you are a dumbass Arkansas fan you also play a game in Little Rock
