I thought it was him who wasn't pleased with not playing this year with us having a bad secondary. You think he was the one that got into it with the d-line coach?

Happy Holidays Dave. Love the chats. Have you learned anything more about Greg Taylor's cryptic & deleted tweet a few weeks back re: loyalty, argument w/ coach?
Related: lots of hand wringing from fans about Mizzou possibly losing pipeline from ESL. If true, it seems to me it has less to do w/ anything MU is doing & more about Illinois re-emerging as a natural contender for ESL recruits (including an ESL asst coach/Ill alum who soured on previous regime in Champaign but is totally on board w/ Lovie & staff. Agree?

Dave Matter's response:
I'd expect some clarity on Taylor's status in the near future. I'd be mildly surprised if he's back next year. I'd agree with your point on Illinois re-emerging as a factor for ESL recruits. Odom touched on this yesterday and we'll write about it in the coming days, but he's baffled by the criticism that ESL players aren't playing enough at Mizzou. Hell, as he pointed out, MU's walk-on from ESL, Dominic Nelson, won multiple awards at the team banquet and earned a role on special teams late in the season. Sometimes recruits make up reasons for not wanting to pick a certain school and sometimes those reasons are based on fiction. That's all part of the zaniness of recruiting.

Not surprising.
He couldn't crack the rotation.

I kinda figured this to be the case when all the Thomas talk started. Good news is I think sunkett still likes mizzou. Lovey definitely gonna be the man at ESL for a bit with the current rotation of players but that will hopefully be temporary

Sunkett was the one who kept insisting thomas was still looking at us. It shows that sunkett does prefer us but kids will do their own thing. Hill couldn't crack the rotation so he's pouting. Show me. Have fun at appalachian state.

Who has he got from there?

He will. Or I could be wrong.

Unless they can get things fixed in the trenches, Lovie may not be there in two more years.

Have heard Lovie isn't happy doing what he's doing.
Combo of the demand due to recruiting and the shite-show administration at Illinois who won't commit to winning.
Hopefully this thing doesn't take-off in any way over the next two years and he calls it quits.

In October they approved a $130,000,000+ stadium renovation. I highly doubt the administration isn't supportive of what he wants.

This wouldn't surprise me in the least.
Chasing and sweet talking kids all over the country, year round, is a young man's game, especially you would think for a life-long professional coach like Lovie. It takes energy and passion.

Money is one thing.
But functionality is another. I've heard its been an unwelcome additional challenge.

Bingo on age and recruiting.
A guy like Saban almost doesnt even need to show up to land a 5*. With his track record, when kids land a bama offer, all they really want/see is the campus. They know what they would be getting with a coach.
Lovie still has to make a case. A strong one at that.
I'll always love that guy. Hands down one of my favorite coaches. Was a joy to see and hear him with the Rams.

Lovie is only 58 - he'll do this for a while and I suspect he'll get them winning.
I'm not overly concerned about ESL and I'm certainly not concerned about Taylor. If a kid wants to play in the greatest conference in the country and on the biggest stage - he'll want to be in the SEC. MU will start getting a kid from Chicago most years.

Why? NFL pays better and you don't have to recruit. Even as a coordinator.
