Not really, our team has set CFB championship records that'll never be broken from a dynastic standpoint. We'll just laugh and say you jelly.
'Cause you already are and have been for years.

I agree. Malzahn being the only coach in the conference to have won an SEC Championship will be hilarious, and sadly indicative of how poor the SEC has become.
So, you're saying Saban retires after this year? Intradesting...

The thing is, I thought he did have it figured out. I thought he realized that an athletic quarterback dual-threat was the way to keep his ground game solid against anybody. Then he went and recruited Tyler Queen, Jeremy Johnson, and Sean White. I'm thinking WTF??
He got the defense right and then he went and fricked up a perfectly good offense.

You do realize neither of those guys are dual threat right? That was his whole point
To the original point though, he recruited JJ his first year here and had a short year to recruit. We had JJ locked in before Gus got here.
IIRC Queen was a backup option

Woody is the only DT we have on the roster.

I do believe Saban has made everybody too quick on the trigger. I think that's why the conference as a whole is weaker and it's why I want to give Malzahn some time to figure things out

Define dual threat then. I would classify both of them as dual threat.

Run as good as a RB. Throw like a QB.
Go look at both of their recruiting profiles. Both were rated as Prostyle QBs not DT QBs

Both considered pro-style QBs coming out of HS.

Then we will almost never have a true DT QB. All we've seen Queen do is run the zone read, and he has run it pretty well. If you are going to argue he isn't a dual threat based off of any evidence we've seen, then you're just being silly.
JJ runs like a coward, which was a surprise to everyone, but coming out of High School, he had the physical traits of a perfect QB for our offense in the Cam mold. He was just a head case. Athletically speaking though, he was a dual threat.
Then we also recruited JFIII.

JJ does not have the footspeed and did not run a read-option offense. Other than height and the color of his skin, he wasn't like Cam at all. Jason Campbell with a head injury is a better comparison.
I saw Queen play in HS and he's definitely not a DT qb. Gus tried to force some square pegs in round holes and that's what you saw when White got hurt.

You can barely argue that he exists based on what we've seen at Auburn. He most certainly is not a zone read guy though.

You would be the only one to think that. There were big time concerns that he wouldn't be able to run well enough in college for Malzahns offense. The only place he was ever comparable to Cam was his size and his arm.

a lot of people pointed to his game against auburn high school that had reuben foster and rashaan evans as an example of his running ability LINK LINK LINK LINK

One of these still has his team in the playoff. One has a monumental task ahead of him in the ACC and one should be landing a good job any time now, despite what the corn dogs tell you.

Let's not be a revisionist here. Coming out of High School, JJ was compared more often than not to Cam. They did run zone reads, options, etc at Carver as well. Yes, he turned out like Campbell with a head injury, but coming out of high school, he was "supposed" to be the perfect style of QB for this offense. He just didn't live up to his abilities.

I did as well. He was definitely not the fastest, more of a power runner, but they run plenty of zone read. When he has done it at AU, he ran them very well. Not every dual threat is necessarily in the Nick Marshall or Lamar Jackson mold. That doesn't make them not a dual threat.
Now, if you guys want to argue that the only type of QB that works in Gus's offense has to be a Nick Marshall type, have at it and I'll leave you be.

Why did they need an example? Because a lot of people were skeptical of his running ability

Y'all need a damn QB coach at AU. You pull a lot of HS talent from the QB position, but somebody over there is deficient in training and developing them.
