This situation in the end, is going to work out the worst for LSU.
Herman to Texas, Jimbo is staying at FSU. Unless they go after Petrino. I just don't see LSU stooping that low to get Arkansas sloppy seconds.
I wish Leach got more love but I don't want him at LSU. He would win a lot of games there.
As for just Texas, this is all starting to look really bad for them. So many leaks and now the AD releases a statement.

Texass boosters tell me their all in for Herman

Firing Miles before the end of the season will prove to have done LSU no favors.
There are ways to let the guy you want know the job is theirs if they want it, you can even let Miles know this is the end, but firing a coach before the end of the season seldom proves to be advantageous.

I honestly do not see the attraction with him to the point every one acts like he is a sure thing for success.

They tried that approach last year and Jimbo said no.
Outside of Herman, Leach, or Petrino I just don't know if they'll get much of an upgrade at all. The latter of the two will sacrifice defense for offense. Petrino has shown he can have the best offense in the SEC and get blown out by good defensive teams.
Add to that, I just don't see LSU stooping to even offer Petrino. I like Leach and hope they don't go after him. Other than those guys, I just don't know who else LSU could hire that makes me think he is better than Miles.

The way LSU handled severing Miles will chase a lot of quality coaches away.
I'm with you, I think LSU ends up with egg and tabasco on their face when it's all over with.
Maybe they can get Gundy but he surely knows he trading a legacy for just a few millions dollars more in the total life of the contract(s). If they beat Oklahoma and win the Big 12 he's safe in Stillwater for another decade. Maybe he wants to take a job where he's the big dog in the state and LSU offers a lot in that regard.
The coaches I don't want LSU to hire are Fleck, the guy at USF, Fedora, Fuente or Mullen. All of those guys would do very well with what LSU offers.

I Just watched Strongs Presser following the loss. Terrible feeling in the gut witnessing that.
I really like that dude, the crap show at Texas has drained him of humanity.

Strong said he received a "nice text" from Bielema about how he's handling everything

Bert setting it all up so he can ask him to be our DC.

man I know it won't happen
but just the thought is enough for a semi chub

Strong would be a lights out hire. And would give us 3 former head coaches among assistants and coordinators which should mean we would have a top coaching staff going into next year.

Charlie Strong is a way, way better coach than what was shown at Texas. I don't know what was going on there, but he was not coaching to his potential. If we got him on the staff, it would be Bielema's best hire yet.
I honestly think he'd still be a good choice for HC here if we happened to be in the market, despite what happened at Texas.

I don't want him as a hc yet but he's a great dc. Texas suffers from soft over praised talent. That isn't going to change without them accepting a change in philosophy and taking their lumps along with it.

Strong will get $5 mil per for next 2 years on buyout unless he takes another job. I don't see him taking a dc position for a mil or so and losing $8 + million.
Posted on 11/22/16 at 9:18 am to LOCO5150
Surely it isn't a blanket coverage over all jobs. I imagine that would be taking another head coaching job.
Posted on 11/22/16 at 9:20 am to TheCheshireHog
Yea, most of those only apply to HC gigs. Shannon's was the same way when he was here still getting money from Miami.
Posted on 11/24/16 at 7:21 am to Hawgeye
Most of those HC clauses are whatever you get paid as an assistant subtracts from your buyout. So, if his buyout is 5m and a team pays him 1m as a DC, he will net 4 from Texas and 1m from new gig.
