Antrel Rolle thinks 2001 Miami would easily beat present-day Alabama

All I can say is this would be one helluva game. It's hard to pick against that 01 Miami team honestly. I'm not sure Bama could score on them. What does the rant think?

they almost lost to vtech ... and beat bc 18-7 ... so, yeah, i see why people would think they'd easily beat alabama ... this bama team would get dominated by those hokies and eagles ...
absolutely ...

Agreed. Wouldn't even be close. Ken Dorsey > Jalen Hurts

Yeah, cause that's how football works.

Both those teams were a respectable 8-4, FWIW. Not the same as 2016 BC and VT.

It wouldn't be a game. This is not a good offensive Alabama team.

Bama would shut them out.

What else would you expect him to say?

2001 Miami wasn't even the best of the Miami teams throughout the years. He only says that because he was there at the time. They beat up on a Nebraska team who got destroyed in the Big 12 championship game by Colorado for crying out loud. Miami was awesome but I'm thinking the late '80s Miami teams. Those teams would beat this Bama team. Don't know about '01. Those Canes probably don't run on Bama and Hurts probably doesn't get to the edge like he does against the less talented SEC teams. LSU showed how to slow him down and Chad Kelly showed how to score on Bama. But it's damn near impossible to implement that in a single game plan without the weapons.

I would have loved to have seen Shockley against Foster...

Once Bama plays a team who can stop the run/Make hurts make throws and has a competent offense to go along with it you Bama fans will be hurting
Bama was better last year, Coker could stretch the field

Game probably ends 7-3. Bama scores on a defensive touchdown ftw. 200 yards combined total offense. The '02 team had similar talent and lost to Ohio State. Ken Dorsey may not survive the first quarter. Football has always been a line of scrimmage game, that's true over all eras. Not many pro style offenses in CFB history match up well with a team that has a front 7 of this caliber.
If the two teams played 10 times, I think 21 or more points by one team probably happens once and they split 5-5

It would be an amazing game but I would go with Miami.
Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee, Frank Gore at RB. Andre Johnson, Jeremy Shockey, Kellen Winslow Jr on the outside.
Sorry but not even Alabama's defense will stop that offense imo.
The U's defense was even more stacked. Ed Reed, Phillip Buchanan, Vilma, DJ Williams, Wilfork etc

And who fits the bill here?

Greatest team of all time was 1995 Nebraska. They literally beat the shite out of every team they played.

And not one offensive lineman was mentioned that day. Bama's front seven is savage. They literally pressure the quarterback on over half of all drop backs and average over 4 sacks per game. They score points. They are tenacious

Part of me agrees, then I remember that the same thing was said about 1992 Miami.
Coker would be outcoached. That's not even debatable.
