Just looked at an old LSU vs Auburn game

Got on YouTube and checked out the 2003 LSU/Auburn game....what an offense and defense....the names of that team from 2003, Mauk, Vincent, Whitworth, Peterman, Spears, there's so many of them that go down in Tiger lore that I cant even think of...what a team!! With that offensive line we could have run on anybody nowadays including Bama...no sweat with that 2003 O'line....
I'll tell you how to get in shape:

10-30s
6 - 50s
4 - 100s

All at the end of practice....

I wonder where Saban would have ended up if Rich Rod had taken the job?

I think if Les goes to Mich, Saban goes back to LSU. He knew the talent that he left and knew Les was a good recruiter. I know Saban just finished a 7-6 initial season at Bama but he always said he regretted leaving LSU and it would have been his chance to go back.

Field Turf....like they did at ND a few years ago...
folks, you need to remember that Met was on the bench as well....I could never understand why Miles never used him in 2011...He didn’t have to sit out due to him coming tp LSU from JC....there was your passer folks..that would have changed ‘both’ games in LSU’s favor.

NFL doesn’t pay $2 milllion plus to assistants....

Sauces say Miles OUT/Jimbo in.... :pimp:
There is also another thread one here about O wanting to go back to the, it seems, power I...traditional FB and TB with pro-style QB...hmmm, sounds/looks familiar...maybe Les can be a offensive consultant...
So much for recruiting/getting Rogers from Parkway....(I'm to understand Rogers and Terrance Marshall are a package deal?)....

It reminds me of last year (beating the mediocre Ole Miss Arkansas Missouri etc., observers believing we have made the turn). We beat an awful Florida team and an on the road to purgatory Ole Miss team. The Auburn win was good and surprising, but we let them off the hook last year. Orgeron could make a more of a case for his hiring with a good performance this weekend. What I expect is that LSU plays well for a half, wears down in the second half and gets run. I agree with you that beating terrible teams and Auburn doesn't justify the hiring, especially when you take a four touchdown beating to a mediocre State team and lose to Troy. Whether on believes it is fair or not, we need to see something that Les Miles wouldn't give you to justify replacing him with someone unqualified. If O beats Bama, he can point to that, and it would be difficult to respond to.

We lost to Auburn (that's what got Miles fired) and we lost to Florida on Guices' "zig-zag" in the backfield...we played 'Bama tough, by virtue of the 10-0 victory, which, for some reason the Tigers were not given credit for, it seemed. Now, this year, we are playing lots of young'uns and it's gonna be tough defense wise. We have enough experience on the "D" but can it last throughout the game...I don't feel victorious (esp playing in T-town)but I think we "suck it up" and play tough, but eventually wear down due to depth issues from the lack of quality OL and DL recruiting the past couple of years

LSU 14
I'm a Tiger through and through....been one since listening to John Ferguson in the 60s...suffered through Cholly Mac's last few years; Bo Rein's death and Jerry Stovall's up and down seasons; Bill Arnsparger's rise and Mike Archer's fall; the 90s; LSU's reemergence under Nick and Les for the most part maintaining the status quo(yes he did!). Bo Schembechler's "ghost" coached the Tigers thru Miles. What undid Bo at UM undid Miles at LSU. Pretty darn good defense; no offense to speak of. Once Nick's recruits graduated/left, Miles tried to keep up and didn't do a bad job for the most part. But no offensive/defensive line recruits, lord knows no QB's to speak of, and, the BIG ONE he never got past the book entitled..."How to Play College Offense" by Knute Rockne (I don't know if that is a good example or not; at least he threw the ball!). Maybe not, but offense is what led to the firing of Les Miles (maybe his Timex he received from John Cameron Swayze had worn out as well....basically time management skills were somewhat lacking).

re: 10 and 3 season is very attainable

What got Miles fired was his hard headedness and lack of keeping up with some sort of an evolving offense :pimp:

Any Rumors.....

Have you ever heard him call an Alabama game?

I would have loved to have seen 2005/06's offense on 01/09/12 against Bama....Bama would not have scored 21; maybe 3 FG's but Jamarcus, Bowe, and friends would have done quite well crossing the 50-yard line on numerous occasions...as a matter of fact, we probably wouldn't have even played them because of the butt whoopin they would have gotten with the 05/06 offense in T-town in Nov 11.... :pimp:

re: Who wins: LSU ‘07 vs. ‘11

LSU '07...they had an offense of some stature...
I've tried to find "really" old games. Had some success, especially LSU vs Neb 1971 Orange Bowl. Had to look for Neb Championship on YouTube to find that one. I as 16 at the time and loved listening to John Ferguson call the games on KWKH in Shreveport, as I did for years. Anyway, that was one of Cholly Mac's finest defenses and led the nation in run defense (38 yds/gm). Offense...not so much. LSU lost 17-12 after a "much bigger" Neb offensive line wore us down and Jeff Kinney helped the Neb offense run for over 100 yds. Anyway, love watching games when we HAD an offense, Wickersham, Hodson, Risher....boy could they hum that football. Great defenses...like ours in 2003-2011 (not so much in 2008, but I digress; offense had a way of putting that years defense in untenable situations). Saban's (yes, him) years of pulling us back into prominence; Even CLM's first 6-7 years were good/decent. We were always in the national picuture...I would love to have 2006's offense paired with 2003s or 2011s defense on the field right now...I just don't think Moo st or Troy would have stayed on the field with us and there is NO FRICKING WAY Bama would beat us, no way. that's my 2 cents....
