I'm one of the few that doesn't like to flame or troll on this board, with that being said...
Yancy Porter is saying Ole Miss is now in his top 2 with LSU and Gay says he's not doing an official visit this weekend. I understand he could still visit State unofficially.

We might have the least reliable insiders of any SEC program and Yancy is the least reliable of them, so I wouldn't put too much stock into what he says. That being said, nobody needs this kid worse than we do. I'm not big on telling a high school kid he's a starter from day one, but I'd be fine with Mcgriff penciling him in next to Gates if that's what it takes.

Of course you will. Because state is every kids dream school. Nothing like routinely finishing in the bottom half of the SEC every year to light a fire in those cruits

In the end it's going to be a battle for Gay's signature between State, LSU and Ole Miss.

All defensive recruits imagine themselves playing for Dave Aranda. Orgeron is just the cheerleader. Aranda is a goddamn mastermind and is a top 3 defensive coordinator in the country if not the best.
LSU desperately needs linebackers. Inside linebackers the most. Willie Gay is up to 225 so he's now got the size and has always had the speed. We NEED this guy!

What does that have to do with anything I said? Orgeron is a CEO type cheerleader for LSU. If you think Orgeron gas any say in the x's and o's you're sadly mistaken.

Any other year I'd agree that'd it'd be hard to outbid a MS school for a MS kid's signature, much less one that lives in StarkVegas.
In combination, MSU and Ole Miss routinely gets the signatures of 8 out of the Top 10 prospects in MS each year.
Not this year. Fence-Down/Bank-Broke. MSU and Ole Miss may only get 3 of the Top 10, with MSU only getting two in Hill & Odom.
If the state schools have already lost studs like Akers, Brennan, Avery, Charles, Murphy and White, what makes Gay so different?
Furthermore, this is the same Starkville kid who was a one-time commit to MSU's hated Rival, Ole Miss.
Gay has oft-praised Ole Miss, Michigan, and LSU publicly, and I'm hard-pressed to find a single quote by Gay talking about M$U at anytime.
Now his main recruiter is gone, there's a new DC to build a 2-week relationship with, and a 3-star filled class that can't excite him.
I'll be shocked if he doesn't sign with an out-of-state school.

Gay could sign elsewhere, but he has a lot of relationships at MSU, including his best mate being on the team, in Kobe Jones.
As far as MS kids are concerned, MSU actively pursued only two of the names you listed, Gay would make three.
