It would be easier to name the 5*s that have been successful in the NFL than name all the 5*s that never amounted to anything under him

Tbh, the only back from Alabama that comes to mind as having actually been scary in the NFL was Shawn Alexander. Some others have had some decent seasons, but no one special.

Here are the Alabama players in the all-time list and their number of carries:

13. Derrick Henry: 602
14. Shaun Alexander: 727
16. Bobby Humphrey: 615
20. Ken Darby: 702
21. TJ Yeldon: 576
24. Mark Ingram: 572
30. Trent Richardson: 540

Seems to me Alabama boys do more with less.

They weren't even in the honorable mention section. At least L5U got a nod there.

I am sorry, I stand corrected. No Bama RBs in the top 12 all-time. Scratch that top 10 statement I made =)

What about Terrence Cody

He was a 2nd round draft pick - late 2nd round at that (like 57-60 range). Are we really calling 2nd rounders who dumbass their way out of the league "busts"?

Dee Milliner?

I'll give you that he's trending that way. Not too late for him to turn it around and be decent (like Mo Claiborne has gone from "bust" to "decent"). That said, he's been constantly injured and hasn't been able to get the practice reps needed to get better, much less the game reps. When he was consistently getting reps he was producing/improving. He was NFL defensive rookie of the month at end of his rookie season.

Ingram - if he was 3rd or 4th rounder, he wouldn't be.

Why did the Saints resign him then? He he's produced for the Saints. It's really not his fault that Payton doesn't know how to use his running game to help his passing game.

Rushing attempts are rushing attempts. It doesn't matter how many games they did it in.
Yeah it does. Just because you get handed the ball more doesn't mean you are better than someone from a different era or even a different situation. A RB on a team now, that plays 4 full years, with a defense that gives up quick scores could easily have more carries than a great RB from 20+ years ago. Even if he never gains a yard.

Yet everyone in front of Derrick Henry has more carries than him, a few with over 300 more carries.

Henry is tGOAT.

You might want to hop over to the NCAA GSR rankings.

You guys have historically and recently sent some really good LBs to the league. This might be a legit thread if you decided to start it. =)

Other than Trent, who are the true "busts" in the NFL from Bama?

Not so much massive busts but some of them are underachievers. Warmack and Andre Smith (kind of). Barron is good now but those years at safety he sucked. Milliner is a bust. McClain is a bust because he's a dumbass.
Bama is by no means NFL-U. Put a lot of players in the league but many of them don't turn into stars.

Lacy is the best RB of Bamas in the NFL right now, but Henry could end up being the best of them in the future. We all know how big a failure Trent was, and Yeldon is looking like a below avg NFL rb, but yeah pound your chest over that I guess. Ingram can be good, but is too fragile and the Caint's don't really run the ball too much. Even then the jury is still out on Lacy, as he had a good year and a disappointing year (last year). So far so good this year, but he really isn't being used that much (15 or so rushes a game).

I don't disagree with the list too much but not sure how it treats LSU.

quote:

LSU is now all about Leonard Fournette, and rightfully so, but with Jeremy Hill and Stevan Ridley also making their mark in the NFL, the Tigers have proven themselves as a consistent producer of top-level running back talent.

They left Spencer Ware off who leads the league in yards from scrimmage... Alfred Blue?

Hilliard, Magee, and Ridley were all on rosters last season.. not sure where they are now.

Alabama isn't doing anything significant to develop RBs, they are just recruiting them really well. LSU was DBU, because they were taking HS QBs and 3 stars and turning them into NFL players.
