LSU fans - Tailgating and other advice for visitors

Several Mizzou fans are planning to make the trip to Death Valley for the first time, and looking forward to the visit. I've gotten the sense that it will be a big crowd of visitors making the trip. There was a thread started on the Mizzou board, and I stupidly suggested he ask the question on the OTB. Not much response there. So, I thought I'd start one here.
What would y'all suggest for visitors to Baton Rouge for the first time? Restaurants? Things to see and do? Bars? Parking? Tailgating?
Thanks in advance, I'm sure those making the trip will appreciate the input.

For restaurants, I suggest The Chimes, Mike Anderson's, Acme Oyster House or Sammy's.
For bar scene, it kind of depends on your age. Fred's in Tigerland, Bogies off E. Boyd or downtown will do the trick.
For tailgating, expect a few "Tiger Baits" and smile it off. Walk around and see as much as you can, many people will invite you into their tailgate for friendly jabbing, food & booze.
I wish I could be on campus/in the stadium for this game, it should be a sight to see.
Have a good time & let us know what you thought.

Could be expensive tickets. Clemson and Louisville are both highly ranked!

In a legit thread about visiting your city, campus and stadium?

This is why we can't have nice things.

Thanks semo for posting this. My son and I are flying in from Des Moines and Oklahoma City and are really looking forward to the LSU experience. Hopefully you will get a few more serious responses that will be helpful for us newbies.

What NFLSU said was accurate.
I would suggest starting at Walk On's and then working your way over to chimes. From the chimes, walk around the parade grounds, through the quad, past the Indian mounds, and down victory hill.

Where is Mike's habitat? I'm sure Mizzou fans will want to see him.
We tried to get our own live tiger several years ago, but got shot down.

Mike is on the north side of the stadium.
Check out the lsu band coming down the hill, it is fun even for visitors.
Wear your mizzou gear proudly, get tigerbaited a ton, and then enjoy the food you will be given.
Be safe and have fun. Really no place like tailgating at lsu

Mike's habitat is on the north west side of the stadium. Right next to the Basketball Stadium.
FYI, he usually doesn't come out as often in game day because of all the noise. He has an inside part to the habitat that is quite large as well. Whole habitat is 15,000 square feet.

Don't worry bout going to this restaurant or the other, wear your Mizzo shirts, walk around anywhere around the stadium and you will get all the food & booze you want. With kickoff in the evening, presuming you are getting in town Friday nite, get out there around 9 a.m. or so & just enjoy all the food & drinks ...stop by the Indian Mounds & enjoy the eye candy if your son is old enough. No glass containers allowed anywhere but you can walk & drink all over. No umbrellas allowed in TS but weather is supposed to be great. If you see a cop, just walk the other way. They are generally ok but all it takes is one. If drunk frat boys bother you, just wave & walk on. They are harmless. Bathrooms all over but at times they run out of toilet paper. When you get on campus, ask around as to what time the band comes down the hill, get there a bit early as it is a site & sound to behold. Mike's habitat is right there as well. Post game tail gating is usually almost as big, so to avoid traffic, which sucks, stay late & enjoy tail gating all over again. But bars & restaurants are not necessary with all the food & drink you & your son can handle for free.

if you do walk ons get the waffle cheese fries. Anything else on the menu is pretty below average as far as food goes in la.
